The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. William Naedler, Sr., was celebrated on Saturday, October 15, at the Bali Hai Supper Club a Neillsville. Linda Schwantes and Wm. Naedler were married on October 19, 1927, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Neillsville, by the Rev. H. Brandt.

All wedding attendants were present at the anniversary celebration. These included Gladys Bruss, now Mrs. Arnold Beaver, West Bend; Hilbert Naedler, Neillsville; Marilyn Schwantes, now Mrs. Ervin Viegut, Athens; Erwin Greeler; Neillsville; and Anita Bruss, now Mrs. Gladwin Bock, Allen Park, Mi.

Mrs. Naedler was born in Spencer and attended schools there. Mrs. Naedler was born on a farm south of Neillsville. He attended a rural school and St. John’s Lutheran School in Neillsville. He was a member of the Clark County Board of Supervisors for eleven years, chairman of the Town of York for twelve years and was on the Granton School Board six years. Mr. and Mrs. Naedler are members of the Zion Lutheran Church of Granton, where Mr. Naedler served in various church offices. They are now retired and live on Rt. 1 Granton. Both enjoy fishing at their cabin in northern Wisconsin.

The celebration was given by their children. Ninety-three relatives and friends were present. They have three children, Marvin Naedler, Irene, now Mrs. Dennis Schwarz, and Wm. D. Naedler.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nagel planned and hosted a dinner and reception in honor of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nagel, Colby, June 20, 1975.

Dinner was served at 5 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church to 80 guests.

Joan Nagel, a granddaughter, was in charge of the guest book.

The guest of honor table had two centerpieces of yellow roses and white carnations. Each small table was centered with a gold rose.

Yellow roses, white carnations and baby’s breath were in the corsage and boutonniere the couple wore for the occasion.

Entertainment at the VFW Hall was visiting and dancing. A buffet lunch was served later in the evening, including a three tiered wedding cake, which was served by their granddaughter, Mrs. Edward Wyrzykowski.

Nagel, the son of Otto and Frida Nagel, was born September 14, 1894 in Sheboygan County and was educated there. Prior to his marriage he farmed in the town of Hull.

His wife, the former Edna Thiel, daughter of Ernest and Anna Thiel, was born Jun 24, 1905 in the Town of Hull, Marathon County, and attended schools there.

The Nagels farmed east of Colby until 1952, when they moved to Colby. Nagel was employed at Roddis Manufacturing and Blume Brother Box Factory until retiring in 1960.

Their only son, Roy, lives in Highland, Indiana, and they have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all whom were present for the celebration.

Mr. and Mrs. Nagel are members of Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, and the VFW and Auxiliary.

Guests attended from Belle Plaine, Minnesota, Sheboygan, Lansing and Dalton, Illinois, Highland and Hammond, Indiana, Land O Lakes, Poynette, Marshfield, Neillsville, Granton, Phillips and the surrounding communities.

Mr. and Mrs. Ferd. Nebel of Webster celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at their home at Hillside Lodge Sunday afternoon.

They were married July 6, 1910, in Oswego, Ill., by the Rev. George Schwartz of Ottawa, Ill.

They have four children: Mrs. Harvey (Dorothea) Luedtke of Lomira; William of Waukegan, Ill.; Harley of Omaha, Neb.; and Ronald of Aurora, Ill.  There are 24 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Larson attended the golden wedding of Mrs. Larson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Neidhold, at Weyauwega, Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Neidhold are well known in this community having lived in the Town of Holton for more than twenty years. In 1932 they sold their farm east of Dorchester and moved to Weyauwega where they now make their home.

All of their eleven children, 21 grandchildren and other relatives were there to help them celebrate their 50th anniversary. Dinner and supper were served to about eighty guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Neidhold are both enjoying good health and heartily enjoyed the celebration and occasion to have the family all together again as well as to greet many old friends.

A surprise anniversary party was held at the Curtiss Hall Saturday night for the 35th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Neitzel. The honored couple was picked up at their home by their granddaughter, Deborah Buchholz of Owen, at which time she presented them with corsages. She also presented corsages to the attendants present at the party. They were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hamm, Curtiss; Mrs. Eldon Smith, Marshfield; Mrs. Leo Sann, Wausau, and Charles Neitzel, Unity. Decorated anniversary cakes were made by Mrs. Karl Buchholz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Neitzel, and were served by their granddaughter, Dawn Krug. Among th 125 guests were the Rev. Mr. Tellock and relatives and close friends from Racine, Milwaukee, Wausau, Chelsea, Medford, Unity, Owen, Dorchester, Abbotsford and Curtiss.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Neinas, residents of Chili, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Tuesday evening by entertaining at a 6 o'clock dinner for immediate relatives and at a reception for relatives and friends at their home, in the village.

Later in the evening, they were honored at a surprise party given by neighbors and other friends. Cards provided entertainment, and a midnight lunch was served. Two large wedding cakes graced the table. The couple received a gift from the group.

A surprise party was held November 15, 1975 at the Redwood Supper Club in Unity for Mr. and Mrs. Walter Neitzel, Colby, in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple was married December 2, 1925, in Edgar. They have three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Lavilla) Schilling, Colby, Mrs. Carl (Betty) Soltow, Spencer, and Mrs. Larry (Lois) Gehrke, Colby.

Mr. and Mrs. Neitzel have nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Neitzel likes to play cards and his wife enjoys gardening and crocheting.

Dancing was held in the evening to the Harmony Aires Orchestra.

A special song was written for the occasion by Millie Faber, and performed by Millie Faber and Margaret Grottke.

Gerald and Lila (Roehl) were married May 22, 1948 at Christ Lutheran Church, Chili (Clark Co.), Wisconsin For the past ten years, Mr. Nelson has managed the United Building Center in Spencer.

On the occasion of the silver wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson of Abbotsford, friends and relatives came from Abbotsford, Colby, Curtiss, Owen, Marshfield, Spencer, Port Washingion, Beloit, Sheboygan, West Allis, Wausau, Robinsdale, Minn., and Chicago, Ill., to offer congratulations and best wishes and join in the celebration held Saturday, Sept. 10.

Mrs. Gerald Michaelson of Marshfield was the only one of the original wedding attendants able to be present at the anniversary celebration. The former Grace Greenwood, a niece of the bride, served as ring bearer.

The theme of the decorations at the city hall at Abbotsford where the open house was held was a moonlit garden scene. On the north end of the hall a lovely garden was made. In it were several white birch, evergreen trees and a flower hydrangea tree, a bird bath and fountain that flowed throughout the afternoon and evening, and white lattice covered with flowers. A big yellow moon, Japanese lanterns, and glittering stars on the dark blue sky provided the only illumination for the renewal of vows which took place at 7:30 p.m. in the garden.

Japanese lanterns, silver bells and ribbon were used in the hall and on each table there were cut flowers fountains with running water and miniature bride and groom.

For the renewal ceremony, Mrs. Richard Altendorf of Port Washington played “Pomp and Circumstance”, which was the bridal march twenty-five years ago. The Rev. Charles Glidden of the First Presbyterian church of Abbotsford gave a prayer after which Mrs. Arnold Woodring of Owen sang “Hand in Hand Together, Darling”. Mrs. Vern Buchanan was her accompanist. The Rev. Arnold Woodring of the Alliance missionary church of Owen gave a sermonette, followed by a solo, “Because,” sung by Rev. Glidden, accompanied at the piano by Miss Ann Lenz. The marriage promises were repeated before Rev. Woodring and the closing benediction was offered by Rev. Glidden.

John Nelson and Grace Malugue, both of Marshfield, were married at the Methodist church, Marshfield, Sept. 15, 1941. They made their home in Marshfield until 1963 when they came to Abbotsford.

Mr. Nelson was employed at the Baltus Oil Col. And later at the Marshfield Oil Co. He served in the mechanized cavalry in the army and also as a military policeman. On his discharge, he joined the Marshfield police force and was a member for 16 years, being captain of police at the time he came to Abbotsford to start the Nelson Oil Co. and operate the Texaco service station.

Mrs. Nelson was a telephone operator and is still engaged in that work, presently employed by the General Telephone Co. at Marshfield on the night shift.

The Nelsons have six children, Mrs. Raymond (Karleen) Werner of Marshfield, twins Phillis and Phillip (Phillis is Mrs. Alvin Reese of Sheboygan and Phillip is employed in West Allis), and three children at home, Darla, Jens (J C) and Chloe.

There are two grand children, Lynette Werner and Brian Reese.

Wednesday last was the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Nemitz, which was celebrated at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Fred Dux, west of the city (Neillsville, Clark County). Nearly fifty guests were present, and an enjoyable day was spent. Rev. H. Brandt performed the celebration ceremony. A number of useful gifts were given, among them $50 in gold given by their children. Mr. Nemitz is 77 years of age and his wife is 71. They came to America in 1886, and have seven children and twenty five grandchildren.

On Sunday, May 23, Mr. and Mrs. William Nemitz celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage.

Among the guests were four sons and their families: Mr. and Mrs. Max Nemitz of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. William Nemitz and four children of Dickinson, N. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Nemitz and daughter of Menasha, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Nemitz of Milwaukee. One son, Alfred, in California, could not be present.

A suitable service was held by Rev. Wm. A. Baumann, which was a memorable feature of the occasion.

The sons presented their parents with $50.

Mr. and Mrs. Nemitz were married May 24, 1887, in Germany. They came to Clark County in 1892 and lived on a farm west of the city till 1918 when they moved to Neillsville, making their home here since.

Bill and Frances Neitzel recently celebrated 70 years of marriage, surrounded by friends and family.

Bill Neitzel and Frances Goeltz were married May 24, 1944, at the home of Frances parents, Frank and Mae Goeltz.

They lived in Colby owning and operating Bill’s Electric until retirement in 1986. At that time, they relocated to Winter, where they currently reside.

Bill was a WWII veteran while Frannie stayed home with the oldest daughter Jackie.

They have five children, Carol “Jeannie) Giza, West Bend; Peter (Mary) Neitzel, Rothschild; Bill (Jan) Neitzel, Madison; Merrie (Craig) DeGrand, Marshfield. Their daughter Jackie is deceased and was married to Lowell Peickert, who resides in Eden Prairie, Minn.

They have 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

A party to honor a lifetime of love (70 years) was hosted by their children on May 24 in Marshfield at Craig and Merrie DeGrand’s home.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Neuhaus of Route 2, Colby, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, September 6th, 1931. Mr. Neuhaus was born on May 15, 1857, at Manitowoc, Wis., and Mrs. Neuhaus was born on August 3, 1862, at Centerville, Wis., which makes Mr. Neuhaus seventy-four years old and his wife sixty-nine. They were married on September 7, 1881, at Centerville, Wis., and made their home on a farm in Manitowoc county for twenty-eight years. All of their sixteen children were born there and one died in infancy and is buried there. In 1909, the family moved to their present home at Colby. The farm at that time consisted of 120 acres, fifty of which were cleared. At the present time there are about ninety acres cleared. In the early days, they had about eighteen head of cattle, whereas now they have thirty-three head. Their two sons, Otto and Herbert, work the farm under their father’s supervision.

The anniversary was celebrated at the home farm. Supper was served to the many relatives and friends during the evening after which all the guests, with the exception of some of the smaller children, went to the Cutiss Reformed church where a beautiful service was held. Rev. H. Hartmann conducted the services and gave an interesting talk. The choir rendered several beautiful hymns and all the sons and daughters sang Mrs. Neuhaus’ favorite hymn. The Ladies Aid then rendered a touching closing hymn and Rev. Hartmann presented Mr. and Mrs. Neuhaus with a beautiful anniversary memento.

The church was tastefully decorated by the Ladies Aid with orchid and yellow streamers and beautiful fall flowers. The church was filled to capacity.

After the services, the family and guests returned to the home and had a pleasant evening in a social way while some of the guests amused themselves by playing cards. Refreshments were served at midnight after which the guests returned to their respective homes.

Among the immediate family members present were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baumgartner and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Neuhaus and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. Strade and family, Otto, Herbert and Edw. Neuhaus, all of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Neuhaus and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Neuhaus and family. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Neuhaus and family, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Miller and family of Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stoltzmann and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. One, Louis, died in infancy and the other, Mrs. E. Koerner, died in middle age.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Neuhaus of the town of Colby, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, September 6th.

A find supper was served to a large number of relatives and friends at the farm home at five o’clock and at eight o’clock services were conducted by the Rev. Hartman at the German Reformed church in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Neuhaus. 

The church was prettily decorated with streamer of gold and lavender crepe paper and baskets of olden red and golden glow. 

Mr. and Mrs. Neuhaus are the parents of sixteen children, two of whom are dead. All the children were present at the services.

Those from out of town who were here were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Neuhaus of Curtiss celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at their home on Sunday, Sept. 8. Mr. Neuhaus is 84 and his wife 79 years of age. They celebrated their 50th anniversary at their farm in the Town of Colby ten years ago and since then have retired and live in the Village of Curtiss. Both are in good health.

The following children of the couple were present: Mr. and Mrs. William Neuhaus and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baumgarten and family, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Neuhaus of Colby; Otto Neuhaus, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Strade and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller and daughter, Florence, of Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Amos Miller and son, Harold, and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Oehdrich of Cleveland.

Harold and Viola Neuman, 500 North Main St., Loyal, were honored Saturday, August 21, when their children were all home for an early celebration of their Golden Anniversary. Officiating at the 2:30 p.m. Mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church was the Revs. James Logan and Norbert E. King of Wausau, and Msgr. Barnes of Wahoo, Nebraska.

An early evening dinner followed at the Loyal American Legion with approximately 100 family, and relatives being seated. Following the dinner, the couple greeted guest and danced until midnight. A family reunion was held at the Lion’s Shelter in Loyal on Sunday.

Harold Neuman followed his father’s occupation at cheesemaker, earning his license as an apprentice after graduation from the Loyal High School in 1929. He was employed by the Borden Company for 43 years. His parents were Henry and Lottie Nelson Neuman and were living in the Town of Beaver when he was born on January 27, 1912.

He and Viola Luepke were married on November 10, 1932, in her parental home in Loyal. The Rev. W. Norman Grandy officiated. (Her attendant Hazel Luepke Anderson, of Winter, came for the celebration.) Her parents, August and Elizabeth Fenhaus Luepke were living in Spencer when she was born on December 24, 1901. After moving to Loyal, she graduated from the Loyal High School in 1930.

He was a member of the Loyal Volunteer Fire Department for 33 years. Both are members of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where is she a member of St. Katherine’s Circle of the Altar Society, He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree. They both like to fish. He is a handyman, and her pastime is sewing.

Their children are Jerry Neuman, Newcastle, Colorado; Jack Neuman, Marysville, California; Jean Grisham, San Antonio, Texas; Jan Neuman, Loyal; and Kay Schaefer, Loyal. Karen and Paul are deceased. There are also 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The Neumans have spent the past eight winters in Phoenix, Arizona, where they have seasonal employment.

Mr. and Mrs. John L. Neumann, R. 1, Spencer, were honored for their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 4th, 1969 with an open house at the Unity Memorial Hall, with their two children and families, relatives and friends attending. The hall was decorated with an enlarge wedding picture of the couple, hung in center stage and a decorated cake, a gift of Harland Powers, Schofield, centered the lunch table.

The corsage and boutonniere worn by the couple were gifts of the family, who arranged the celebration. Cards, gifts of money, and other gifts were presented to the couple.

Mr. and Mrs. Neumann are the parents of a son and daughter, Donald Neumann, R. 1, Spencer, and Mrs. Berry Drnek, Parkridge, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. All were in attendance.

Mr. and Mrs. Neumann have lived in this area nearly all their married life, except for a few years spent in Owen and Amherst. They are retired and are members of St. John's Lutheran Church, North Spencer.

Friends and relatives attended the 45th wedding anniversary observance of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nickel of Granton on Sunday, June 27, when open house was held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Granton, from 2 to 5 p.m.

The occasion was planned by the couple’s children, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Nickel of Nekoosa, Mr. and Mrs. William Nickel of Chili and Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Mary Ann) Krainz of Willard. The Nickels have 13 grandchildren.

Mrs. Nickel was presented with a corsage of red sweetheart roses and her husband, a red rose boutonniere. Their two attendants, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Riedel, had flowers to match their attire. Mrs. Riedel is the former Elinore Nickel.

The tables were decorated with mixed flowers and a large anniversary cake baked and decorated by their daughter-in-law, Mrs. William Nickel.

The grandchildren presented a short program and Mrs. Helen Dix and Mrs. Mildred Faber sang and played their guitars, after which the Nickels’ eldest son, Donald, gave a prayer, in the absence of the pastor, who was on vacation.

The honored couple were married June 18, 1931, and then farmed on the groom’s parents’ farm for a number of years before purchasing the property. They retired, sold their farm and moved to the village of Granton in 1972.

Raymond Nickel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Nickel, was born April 10, 1897, in Wauwatosa and came with his parents to the Town of Fremont farm which he and his wife later purchased. He was a member of the school board and an elder of the church for a number of years. His hobbies are hunting and fishing.

Mrs. Nickel, the former Ruth Bartz, was born January 8, 1906, to Mr. and Mrs. William Bartz in the Town of Fremont. She taught school near Greenwood, at Lynn and Granton for a number of years before her marriage.

They were married Oct. 20, 1958, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Charles Leisle officiating.

Donald was born June 27, 1933, in Marshfield. He served in the Army.

The former Penny Rasmussen was born Feb. 20, 1941 in Greenwood. She is a 1958 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School.

On Sunday, July 8th, 1923, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Nixdorf, celebrated their golden wedding at the Gus Nixdorf home. About forty relatives and near neighbors gathered and heard them take again the vows pledged fifty years ago. Rev. Keiper read the ceremony and it was beautiful indeed.

The bride and groom were both attired in black, the only touch of color was the bride's gold crown and the groom's bouquet.

At the eventide a bounteous repast was spread and everyone had a most pleasant time.

The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. L. Burmeister, Milwaukee, and Mrs. John Nixdorf of Chicago.

As it is not often that a couple has the privilege of living together for such a span of years, we feel that it is a time for rejoicing and we with their many Dorchester friends offer our congratulations on this great event. Not only to the couple but to their children and children's children is this an event that will ever stand out in their memory.

Sunday, December 27, 1970, was a special day for Mr. and Mrs. Emil Noah, who celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. They and their eight children and their families attended services at Immanuel United Church of Christ in the forenoon. At noon they were served dinner by the Legion Auxiliary at the Legion club Room, where open house was held from 2 to 5 p.m., about 200 attended the event.

Mr. and Mrs. Noah were married December 17, 1925, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Braun, by the Rev. Otto Vriesen.

They lived on their farm in the town of Mead (Clark Co., Wis.) until a year ago, when they moved into the Fravert residence in the town of Warner.

Mr. Noah was Chairman of Mead for over 20 years, is a World War I Veteran, and at present is a director of the Warner Mutural Town Insurance Co.

Mrs. Noah has been active in Homemakers some 30 years and was a 4-H leader for 12 years.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Noah are active members of Immanuel, he having served as deacon and she as Guild president.

The Noah’s are the parents of ten children: Frederick Hawthorne, California; Norman, Oconto, Wisconsin; Evelyn, Mrs. Orville Hoffmann, Milwaukee; Bernelda, Mrs. Wilton Karlen, Owen; Herbert, Kewaunee; Arvilla, Mrs. Robert Blunck, Union Grove, Wisconsin; Verlan, Thorp; Arlene, Mrs. Robert Stark, Neillsville; Elmer, Greenwood; Kathleen, Mrs. Richard Fitzl, Wonder Lake, Ill.

They have 32 grandchildren.

EMIL NOAH'S NOTE 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

On Saturday, Aug. 23, 1975 Mr. and Mrs. Emil Noah of Route 2, Greenwood celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary at the Greenwood American Legion Hall. They were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Braun on Dec. 17, 1925 by the Rev. Otto Vriesen.

Mr. Noah, the son of Adolph and Louisa, nee Hochle, Noah was born in the town of Mead, Clark County on May 1, 1897. He resided on this farm until his retirement six years ago, except while in service in World War I. He attended Benjamin School and later was a member of the school board for several years, was chairman of the Town of Mead for 20 years, was president of the West Side Telephone Co., until it was sold, a charter member and former vice president of the Warner Mutual Town Fire Insurance Co. and is also a member of the American Legion Post.

Mrs. Noah (Marianna, nee Braun) is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Braun. She was born in the town of Reseberg, Clark Co., the 28th of (Copy was cut off)

Settlement School and in 1919 moved to Greenwood with her parents and attended the Greenwood High School from which she graduated in 1923, attended Wisconsin Business University at LaCrosse, and later was employed in Milwaukee. She was a 4-H leader for 13 years, a member of the West Side Homemakers for nearly 40 years, and still has crafts as a hobby, mainly the piecing of quilt tops.

Mr. and Mrs. Noah are both members of Immanuel United Church of Christ, where Mr. Noah was a consistory member for many years, and Mrs. Noah served as president and sunshine secretary for several years on the Guild.

An estimated 225 guests honored Mr. and Mrs. Emil Noah, Rt. 2 Greenwood, at a golden wedding open house Saturday, August 23, 1975. The Legion Hall in Greenwood was decorated in the theme of gold for the occasion. Floral arrangements graced the table, with the wedding cake and several other large cakes in white and gold. At the opposite side of the hall was a collection of pictures marking the happy events of past years.

Highlighting the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Toburen and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Learman of Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Wuestenhaugen of Sheboygan, played the parts of a mock wedding with the men taking the bride’s and the ladies taking groom’s side in the dramatization. Harry Liebzeit took the part of the preacher.

Before the buffet luncheon the Rev. Pacifico Camarin offered prayers and Mrs. Camarin sang, “Oh, Happy Home.”

The former Marianna Braun was born in the Town of Reseburg on September 28, 1904. After moving to Greenwood, she was graduated from the Greenwood High School in 1923 and continued her education at the Wisconsin Business University, La Crosse. She worked in Milwaukee before her marriage on December 17, 1925. The Rev. Otto Vriesen performed the ceremony.

Emil Noah, the son of Adolph and Louisa (Hoehle) Noah, was born in the Town of Mead on May 1,1897. Here he lived until six years ago, when the son Elmer, took over the farm. It was recognized as a century farm in 1973.

Mr. Noah attended the Benjamin School, where he later served on the school board. He was chairman of the Town of Mead for 20 years. When the Warner Mutual Town Fire Insurance Co. was organized 45 years ago, he was a charter member. He also has served as its vice president. He is a veteran of WWI and a member of the American legion Post, No. 608, Greenwood.

Both are members of Immanuel United Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. Mrs. Noah held offices of president and treasurer of the Guild. She also was a 4-H leader for 11 years and a member of the West Side Homemakers for 40 years.

Both like to travel and have been to California by bus, plane and train. In her spare time, she pieces quilts. Mr. Noah goes for walks along the country roads or watches TV.

All of their 10 children, 38 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren were at the celebration. The five sons are, Frederick, Los Angeles, Ca.; Norman, Oconto; Herbert, Greenwood; Verian, Thorp; and Elmer, Greenwood. The five daughters are, Mrs. Orville (Evelyn) Hoffman, Milwaukee; Mrs. Wilton (Bernelda) Karlen, Owen; Mrs. Robert (Arlene) Stark, Neillsville; Mrs. Robert (Arvilla) Blunck, Union Grove; and Mrs. Richard (Kathleen) Fitzl, Greenwood.

Guests came from Maine, Indiana, Iowa, South Dakota, California, Texas and South America, as well as other points in Wisconsin.

The celebration closed with dancing until midnight. Sunday, a family reunion was held, with approximately 125 having a picnic at the Noah home.

The Noahs were married at the home of her parents, Frederick and Maria (Wilck) Braun. Her parents celebrated their golden anniversary on June 1, 1936. Her grandparents, Wilhelm and Anna (Thorotea) Braun, were the first couple known to have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Clark County.

Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Noetzel celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the home of their son Grover in Philadelphia, Pa. on Sunday , April 7, 1946.

Mr. and Mrs. Noetzel, who had been in business in Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past forty years, spent the winter in Florida. Mr. Noetzel ran a barbershop business in the building now owned by Louie Vogel, and later ran a general merchandise store, then a filling station and later the Variety Store, before retiring. He was also on the school board for many years. Mrs. Noetzel was active in Red Cross work and many other civic enterprises.

They expect to return to Greenwood the latter part of April.

They have two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Ruth) Lawein of McIntosh, S.D., Ambrosia of Ohio, and one son, Grover, of Philadelphia, Pa., and one grandson, Merrill Lawein.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Novobielski of Chicago celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a week ago Saturday, the day chosen by their granddaughter, Karen Novobielski, for her marriage to Joel A. Gutierrez.

Mr. and Mrs. Novobielski were married August 26, 1922 in Clinton, Indiana. They lived in Indiana and Wisconsin until going to Selah in 1944. They moved to Chicago in 1955.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nowack of Rt. 1 Granton were honored Saturday, September 25, with an open house in observance of their 45th wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barth also of Rt. 1 Granton. A buffet supper was served to more than 200 guests.

The Barth’s recreation room was decorated for the occasion with sapphire paper streamers and bells. A large anniversary cake was at the head table, where the honored couple and their attendants of 45 years earlier were seated. The cake was baked and decorated by Mrs. Ronnie Meyer of Neillsville.

The Nowack’s were married September 26, 1926, at Zion Lutheran Church at Granton by the Rev. Theodore Martens. Their attendants wee Mr. and Mrs. Louis Helm and Herbert Sternitzky of Granton, Mrs. George Guenther of Eau Claire, Elmer Elmhorst of Neillsville, Mrs. Dick Howe of Ely, Mn., and mr. Alma Carey of Botonia, Ill. Only Mrs. Carey was unable to attend the observance.

Mrs. Nowack, the former Ardina Helm, was born October 24, 1902, in the Town of Lynn to Ferdinand and Laura Helm. She received her education in the Lynn schools. Mrs. Nowack is a member of the Granton Homemakers and of the Ladies Aid Society of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoys hobbies of sewing and flower gardening.

Ray Nowack was born September 28, 1902, in Kankakee, Ill., to Louis and Emma Nowack. He received his education in Illinois. His hobbies are helping others and gardening; he works part time and enjoys doing cement work.

Both the Nowacks, who have lived at their present home just east of Granton for the past 21 years, are members of Zion Lutheran Church at Granton. They are the parents of two daughters Mrs. Ray (Shirley) Barth and Mrs. Ralph (Laura) Riedel, both of Granton. There are six grandchildren, Gary and Thomas Barth, and Linda, Ricky, Ronnie, and Rocky Riedel.

Friends and relatives from Marathon, Greenwood, Berlin, Brillion, Omro, Melrose, Appleton, Eau Claire, Granton, Chili, Neillsville, Ely, Minn., and Herscher and Woodstock, Ill., greeted the Nowacks at the open house.

In the evening, Mrs. Wallace Garbisch played music for dancing. A lunch was served later. A mock wedding ceremony, given by a group was enjoyed by all.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter E. Nystad of Loyal celebrated their fiftieth anniversary of their wedding with a dinner for about one hundred and thirty relatives and friends on Saturday, December 2.

The dinner was held at four thirty in the afternoon in the parish hall of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was served by a committee of the women of the church. The decorations were done by the Noeldner sisters, granddaughters of the Nystads. These decorations included gold floral sprays on candles at each table and a cascade of gold and white streamers topped by a white wedding bell above and behind the head table. A lovely three-tiered cake graced the head table, which also was decorated with low floral arrangements of white and gold chrysanthemums.

The honored couple, the immediate family and the pastor were seated at the head table and the toastmaster for the occasion was the oldest son, Julius Nystad of Loyal.

A vocal duet, “If You Know the Lord”, was rendered by a nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Juel Stalson of Colfax, accompanied on the chord organ. Next, the toastmaster called on Edward Iverson, an old friend of Mrs. Nystad’s family. Mr. Iverson, who grew up with Mrs. Nystad at Colfax, gave a little talk about the earlier life of the bride and groom.

A vocal novelty number was done by Orville Nystad, a son of the couple. He accompanied himself on the guitar as he sang an old favorite of his parents, “I’ll Walk The Line”, backed by his nieces, the Noeldner Sisters, singers of the Loyal area.

Other favorite selections of the Nystads were sung by the following: “Have Thine Own Way Lord”, by Wanda, Mrs. Wilbur Auth, “Behold A Host”, by Mrs. Leeonard Nystad and “Sweet Little Jesus Boy”, by James Ursin. The Rev. V. A. Ganz, pastor of Trinity gave a few remarks, congradulating the honored couple on weathering fifty years of marriage.

Concluding numbers of the program were two selections by the Noeldner Sisters, namely, “How Can You Forget Old Norway”--- also the Norweigian version--- the original version, “Kan Du Glemme Garle Norge”, and the Christmas song, “Drummer Boy”.

Two little grandsons, Tim and Lee Nystad presented greetings to their grandparents, after which all the grandchildren sang “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”. A most enjoyable evening was spent by the family and friends.

Mrs. Nystad was attired in a lovely royal blue dress and wore a corsage of red and white miniature roses. Mr. Nystad wore a dark suit and a white carnation boutenniere.

Tilla J. Holt, daughter of John J. and Martina Holt was united in marriage with Peter E. Nystad at Colfax, December 2, 1911, by the Rev. T. Satveit. Mr. Nystad, the son of Peder and Mina Nystad, came to America at the age of nineteen, From Storstenness, Balsfjord, Norway, and settled at Co;fax. Attendants at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Julius Holt.

The bride had grown to womanhood at Colfax, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple lived at Colfax, Park Falls, Wisconsin, Bessemer, Michigan; Marshfield, then Loyal in which towns he was employed by the Soo Line railroad. He was a Soo Line employee foe forty one years, retiring in 1958.

Children born to the couple are: Mrs. Leonard (Margaret) Noeldner and Julius Nystad of Loyal; Mrs. James (Pearl) Ursin, Wausau; Mrs. Burton (Violet) Finet, Wausau; Orville Nystad, St.Louis Park, Minnesota; Leonard Nystad, Highland Park, Illinois; Mrs. Wilbur (Wanda) Auth, Colfax; Mrs. Jason (Mary) Brentlinger, Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Dale (Jeanne) Rickstad, Eau Claire; and infant son, Robert, who died at the age of one day, and a son, Lyle, who died at the age of seven. They have twenty-seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Nystad has two interesting hobbies, namely wood-craft and growing of flowers---especially gladioli. Mrs. Nystad, a fine home-maker collects fine china as a hobby.

Their many friends offered their congratulations and the honored pair received many lovely gifts including a purse of money.

If their daughter, Mrs. Jay (Mary Brentlinger of Phoenix, and one granddaughter, Mrs. Ronald (Bette) Syth of San Jose, California, had been able to attend, the Nystad family circle would have been complete.
