Kaatz Anniversary

Allan and RaeJean Kaatz celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 4, 2009, with a dinner and dance at the Colby VFW with family and friends.

The Kaatzs were married April 4, 1959, at St. John’s Church in the Town of Wein with the Reverend Henry Krikau officiating.

Their attendants were Joyce (Schoenrock) Keussner, Hellensville, and the late Robert Friemund.

Children of the couple are Jayne (Robert) Ropella, Inver Grove Heights, MN., Jeff (Barb) Kaatz, Manawa, Jody (Jim) Verbeke, Shakopee, MN., Jamie (Jenny) Kaatz Dorchester, and Krista (Keith) Waters, Savage, MN.

They also have eleven grandchildren, Amanda and Justin Ropella, Eagan, MN., Leroy (Heather) Lehman, Sam Lehman, Waupaca, Rosie Lehman, Neillsville, Samantha and Lindsey Verbeke, Shakopee, and Rachel and Aaron Kaatz, Dorchester, Wis.

The couple’s two great grandchildren are Cael and Ashton Lehman, Waupaca.

Allan and RaeJean farmed for many years before Allan became a self-employed milk truck hauler for the past 27 years.

A large crowd gathered at the Sportsman’s Club Friday evening, Oct. 4, 1963, to help Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kademan celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary.  The evening was spent dancing to the music of Slim Lindau and his band.  Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kademan of Colby, the attendants of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kademan, were present.

The main event of the evening started at 9:45 with two couples imitating the Kademan wedding 50 years ago, Mrs. Marvin (Elaine) Seefluth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kademan, as the bride, Darrell Kademan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Kademan, as the groom, Mrs. Don Oehler, nee Judy Kademan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kademan as maid of honor, and Donald Kademan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Kademan as best man.

Mrs. Seefluth wore a navy dress almost identical to her mother’s 50 years ago, and Judy Oehler an almost identical costume of the maid of honor, which was Mrs. Ed Kademan.  The couples marched in to the tune of "On Your Golden Wedding Day."  They performed a wedding ceremony on the stage with Robert Uhlig as the Justice of the Peace.  After the ceremony the wedding march was played and about 20 couples or more, all dressed in costumes from 50 years ago, joined in for the relation dance.

Friends and relatives came from Minneapolis, Sheboygan, Marshfield, Colby, Owen, Abbotsford and Curtiss.

Two beautiful wedding cakes were served, one being made and decorated by Mrs. Anderson of Curtiss.  A delicious lunch was served and many beautiful gifts, cash and cards were received by Mr. and Mrs. Kademan, who were so unexpectedly surprised by the imitated wedding and so many of their friends and relatives in the old fashioned costumes.  This will be an event long remembered and talked about by everyone.

Children of the Kademans are Harvey, David and Leonard, all of Curtiss, and Mrs. Marvin (Elaine) Seefluth of Abbotsford.  One son, Clifford, passed away nine years ago.

They were married Oct. 4, 1913 in Colby.  They farmed all their life on their farm in Green Grove (Clark Co., Wis.), where they still reside.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kalepp Sr., Abbotsford, celebrated their golden wedding October 22 at Abbotsford City Hall. Dinner for relatives was served followed by a dance, lunch and refreshments. Their marriage was December 22, 1933 at Dorchester.

Original attendants present were Clarence Kalepp and Mrs. Clarence (Margaret Bremer) Kalepp, both of Dorchester.

Kalepp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Kalepp, was born February 21, 1913 in Dorchester, where he attended school.

His wife, the former Lucille Bunnell, was born June 6, 1913 in Stevens Point to Mr. and Mrs. Monroe P. Bunnell. She attended Abbotsford Grade and High Schools.

The Kalepps lived in Dorchester until 1930 and then located in Abbotsford, living with his father until he married. He sold farm machinery at Abbotsford as owner and president of the company for the past 50 years, along with his three sons and grandsons. Mrs. Kalepp has been bookkeeper the past 25 years for the Implement Co.

The couple has three sons, Harold G. Kalepp and Gerald Kalepp, all of Abbotsford, and one daughter, Mrs. Bill (Jane Alice) Harder, Wausau. There are eight grandsons and two great-granddaughters.

Eight years ago Kalepp retired from the business but still is close to it. Both he and his wife enjoy hunting, fishing and travelling. She is president of the Woman's Library Club of Abbotsford.

The Kalepps. members of Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford, received a congratulatory message from President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan.

The 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kalepp was celebrated on Christmas day at a 1:00 o’clock dinner at the Colby Hotel, followed by a gathering at the home.

Myre and Jacqueline, Mrs. Adolph Kalepp, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kattre and three sons, Mr. and Mrs. William Kaleppand family, Mrs. M. C. Bunnell, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schultz and Harry, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Muehler, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kalepp and Lloyd, Dorchester; Miss Bernice Kalepp, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stargardt and son and Miss Shirley Kalepp, Marshfield; and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Rizzi, Rib Lake.

Mr. and Mrs. Kalepp were married at Dorchester, Dec. 22, 1933, with the Rev. John Brandt officiating, and have made Abbotsford their home. They have three sons, Harold, Jr., Du Wayne and Gerald, one daughter, Mrs. John (Jane) E. Myre, and three grand children.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kalson Sr. celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary September 3, 1972.

A 10 o'clock Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen was attended by seven children and their families. Also many close friends attended.

Jim Jr. and Craig Kalson were their grandparents' attendants.

Noon lunch was served to 54 guests by the ladies of the parish.

A reception was held from two to four o'clock at the Legion Hall in Owen for friends and neighbors. Music was provided by the Frank and Jim Kalson families, as well as Lou Neuman and his orchestra of Eau Claire.

Free beer and refreshments were served during the afternoon.

Dinner for 76 guests was served at the Sunshine Apartments Recreation Room by the ladies of Sunshine Apartments.

The Kalsons received congratulatory cables from their daughter and family (Rosemary Tilen) of Puerto Rico, and a son, John and wife of Hawaii.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kalson were married in Milwaukee September 2, 1922, and moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1939. They farmed din the Owen and Stetsonville areas for 40 years. The Kalsons now reside in the Sunshine Apartments.

For the occasion Mrs. Kalson wore a Gold brocade dress, which she fashioned and designed.

A granddaughter, Patricia Kadonsky, was married on their anniversary, September 2, to Jerry Brecke.

Mr. and mrs. Donald Kalsow, 110 Oak St., Neillsville, observed their 25th wedding anniversary Saturday afternoon, November 15, with an open house at the United Methodist fellowship hall. A beautiful cake made and decorated by Mrs. Earl Vine, served as the table centerpiece. A dance was held at the American Legion Hall in the evening. Music was by the Accordionettes.

Donald Kalsow and Lucille Wilding were married November 11, 1950, at the Methodist Church in Neillsville. The Rev. Virgil Nulton was the officiating clergyman.

The couple’s attendants, all of whom attended the observance were Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Gerhardt and Mr. and Mrs. Don Kunze, all of Neillsville.

The Kalsows are the parents of three children, Mrs. Dale (Beverly) Reinart and Barbara and Wayne Kalsow, all of Neillsville. They have one grandchild.

Guests for the occasion came from La Crosse, Wisconsin Rapids, Milwaukee, Wausau, Salem, Appleton, Greenwood, Granton and Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Lebrecht Kalsow of Rt. 3, Neillsville, celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary Saturday, October 13, 1956.
 

Services were conducted by Pastor Adolph Schumann at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe, at 2 p.m.  "Jesus Lead Thou On" was sung by the Ladies Aid and "The Lord is My Shepherd" was sung by the choir.
 

Dinner was served to about 190 people. Gold and White streamers decorated the dining and living room with gold numbers of "50".
 

The four tiered wedding cake, decorated in white and gold, was baked and decorated by the sons’ wives, Mrs. Roland Kalsow and Mrs. Wilbert Kalsow, and a granddaughter, Helene Kalsow.
 

Mrs. Kalsow wore a navy blue dress with a corsage of yellow rosebuds.  Mr. Kalsow wore a rose bud on the lapel of his coat.
 

In the evening an open house was held for friends and neighbors.  The evening was spent playing cards, visiting, and a few musical selections were given by granddaughters, Petra, Pearl, Diana and Lois Kalsow.
 

Pastor Brandt performed the marriage ceremony October 10, 1906, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe.
 

Mr. Kalsow was born March 7, 1884, in the Town of Weston.  He is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kalsow.  He received his education in a rural school in the Town of Weston and at St. John’s Lutheran School, Neillsville.
 

Mrs. Kalsow, nee Ida Mallig, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Mallig, received her education in Neillsville public schools, a rural school in the Town of Weston and at St. John’s Lutheran School, Neillsville.
 

Both are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Globe.  Mrs. Kalsow also is a member of the Ladies Aid and is an active Sunday school teacher.

Mr. and Mrs. Lebrecht Kalsow entertained in observance of their 54th wedding anniversary, October 10, at dinner Sunday.  Present were the Rev. and Mrs. Ruege, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Kalsow, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Klauer, and Martin Kalsow.  All of their attendants are still living, Mrs. Klauer being one of them.  Supper guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Roland Kalsow and daughters, Petra and Pearl, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Ferdinand Grap.

Mr. and Mrs. Lebrecht Kalsow of Neillsville observed their 59th wedding anniversary Sunday. They attended church services at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe where a special prayer was read.

Mr. Kalsow and the former Ida Malling were married in 1906 in the Globe church. They spent all of their married life in the Globe area.

Dinner guests included Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Kalsow, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Kalsow and two daughters, Mrs. Anna Pischer, Mrs. Martha Grap, Lydia Schune, Anita Schoengarth, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wold.

Evening visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mitte, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dux and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stiemke.

A wedding cake was decorated by a granddaughter, Helene Kalsow.

They received a long distance phone call from a granddaughter, Pearl, congratulating them.

Mr. and Mrs. Lebrecht Kalsow began the observance of their 65th wedding anniversary on Sunday, October 10, by attending morning worship services at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Globe, the same church where they were married in 1906 by the late Rev. Herman Brandt.

Noon dinner guests at the Kalsow home on Park Street in Neillsville were his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rummler of Watertown, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Timmler of Loyal, friends of the honored couple, and Mr. Kalsow’s 93-year-young sister, Mrs. Martha Grap of Globe.

The Kalsow’s were greeted in the afternoon and evening by friends, relatives and neighbors from Greenwood, Loyal, Marshfield, Granton, Globe, and Neillsville. Other cousins of Mr. Kalsow, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Geissler of Johnson Creek, were also present for the occasion. The time was spent in visiting and a lunch was served.

Mr. and Mrs. Kalsow received many cards and gifts, including several floral arrangements. A yellow chrysanthemum plant was the gift of Mrs. Viola Vaught and her sister, Mrs. Lavera Krehnke, both of Watertown. A bouquet of roses came from the Geisslers of Johnson Creek, and a colorful mixed bouquet was presented by Mrs. Velda Kalsow. Mrs. C. W. Kalsow went flower earlier in the week.

The Kalsows, who have lived in their present home in Neillsville since 1964, are the parents of two sons, Roland of Neillsville, and Wilbert now deceased. There are five granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Kalsow and their daughters, the Misses Petra and Helene Kalsow, both of St. Paul, Minn., were present for the anniversary observance. Another daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. James Tank and their daughter, Eunice, of Brillion, were unable to attend.

Also present were the Lebrecht Kalsows’ daughter-in-law, Mrs. Velda Kalsow, Neillsville, and her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Wold, and their children, Timothy and Catherine Alisa, of Appleton. The Wold’s daughter, Perri Lynne, was not present. Another daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wilkinson of Milwaukee, were also missing from the gathering. The Wilkinson’s, whose wedding date is also October 10, were married one year on that date.

The Lebrecht Kalsow’s wedding attendants 65 years earlier were William Mallig and Willie Worchel, both deceased, and Mrs. C. W. (Laura Klueckmann) Kalsow and Mrs. Paul (Theresa Kalsow) Klauer, both of Neillsville.

Roland and Lillian Kalsow, 404 Forest St., Neillsville, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple was married in Globe on October 12, 1932, in a service officiated by the Rev. Walter Motzkus.

Serving as bridesmaid at the 1932 wedding was Louise Scheel, a sister of the bride; she also attended the golden anniversary.

The couple had as children a daughter, Helene Kalsow, now of St. Paul, Minnesota, and twin daughters, Petra Kalsow of St. Paul and Mrs. James (Pearl) Tank of Brillion. They also have two grandchildren.

The anniversary celebration began with a noon family meal on October 16 at the Neillsville Senior Citizen Center, followed by an open house with friends and relatives attending from St. Paul and Shakopee, Minn., and the Wisconsin communities of Brillion, Beaver Dam, Oshkosh, Granton, Greenwood and Neillsville. 

Kammerer, Mr. and Mrs. William (07 March 1917 – 07 March 1967)

A Granton couple, Mr. and Mrs. William Kammerer observed their 40th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, March 7, with their family joining them at their home for a luncheon and evening together.

Coming for the evening were their only son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kammerer and daughter Wanda, Marshfield. Their granddaughters and husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Alene Schmidtke, Stratford; and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Vanderwyst and daughter, Sandra Dee, a great granddaughter.

The former Ethel Stoltz was born December 26, 1892 at Milford, Nebraska and William Kammerer was born September 10, 1892 in Rockwell, Iowa. The couple were married March 7, 1917 at Milford, Nebraska.

They spent the first years of their married life farming in Iowa, later moving to northern Wisconsin, and then to Rockford, Illinois. Mr. Kammerer was employed for nineteen years at the Rockford Forge Plant until his retirement five years ago when they moved to Granton buying the former Clark Waterman home.

His hobbies are wood craft, flowers and gardening. Mrs. Kammerer is confined to her home much of the time with Arthritis. but had always been active with sewing and household duties.,

Many cards, gifts and congratulations were received from relatives, friends and neighbors wishing them many blessings in the future.

Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary

It was a family reunion as well as the Golden Wedding or Mr. and Mrs. Nick Kanter who will be married 50 years on the 16th of June 1946. Mr. and Mrs. Nick Kanter, Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Clemens Kanter, San Bernadino, Calif., Mrs. Ed Kohlbeck and daughter, Grand Rapids, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hasenorhl and family, Colby, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cleary and family, Hartford, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carberry and family of Lodi, Wis., and Mrs. Joe Zinthefer, Marshfield, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Harry Benjamin, Palm Springs, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baumgart and daughter, Colby, Wis., Mr. Henry Miesen, Fond du Lac, Wis., Mr. Bernard Koenen of Fond du Lac, Wis., Mr. Math Miesen of Marshfield, Wis.

The dining room was decorated with white and gold crepe paper streamers centered with a wedding bell. The tables were decorated with flowers and lighted candles.

The dining room was in the charge of Marie Zinthefer and was assisted by the couple’s following grandchildren: Donald Kanter, Louis Hasenorhl, Marilyn Hasenorhl, Dorothy Carberry, Joan Cleary.

The kitchen was in the charge of Mrs. Martha Weller and Mrs. John Loos.

Sunday, May 5th, members of the Nick Kanter family gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kanter at Unity to celebrate the first complete family reunion in 24 years and to observe the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Kanter of Colby, Wisconsin, who were married 50 years, June 16.

The residence was canopied with gold and white streamers centered with a large wedding bell and a bowl of pansies flanked with tapers formed the centerpiece at the table. Covers were laid for 40 persons.

Mrs. John Loos and Mrs. Martha Weller had charge of the kitchen and Miss Marie Zinthefer, Joan Cleary, Dorothy Carberry, Lois and Marilyn Hassenohrl, and Donald Kanter, all grandchildren of the Nick Kanters, waited on tables.

Mr. Kanter was born at Hilbert, Nov. 26, 1871, and when he was six years old he moved with his parents to Colby in the town of Hull, which at that time was a wilderness. When he was 18 years old he came to Marshfield and resided there for eight years. During this time he was married to Elizabeth Miesen in a wedding ceremony read in St. John’s Catholic Church by the Rev. John Eisen.

From there Mr. and Mrs. Kanter returned to Colby and purchased the Kanter family homestead, where they lived for 15 years. When he sold this farm he bought 80 acres of wild land which he improved and which is known today as the Pine Grove Farm and is owned by James Kugel.

In the spring of 1939 the Kanters retired and moved to the city of Colby, where they now reside.

Mr. Kanter has taken an active part in the public life of the community in which he lived. He held the office of school treasurer for 15 successive years, resigning when he moved away from the district; he was a charter member of the Hull Town Mutual Insurance Company and was elected a director of the organization until he was chosen to be president of the company. He resigned that position at the time he retired from farming. He has also held the office of supervisor for two years and was a member of the County Board for six years.

Mrs. Kanter was born at Kaukauna, Sept. 25, 1874, and lived there until she was 12 years old, when she moved to Marshfield with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew H. Haertle.

Nine of their ten children were present for the occasion. One son, Rueben, died Dec. 28, 1921. There are 27 grand children.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kapfer, Rt. 2 Neillsville, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday, August 4. A reception and dance was held at the American Legion Hall in honor of the occasion. The couple was married in West Bend by a Justice of the Peace. Both of their attendant Arnold Weston and Hazel Williams were present for the anniversary.

For the celebration, Elsie wore a blue flowered dress with a gold corsage; Lee wore a navy suit with a gold boutonniere. A three-tiered cake with a gold fountain and nine small cakes surrounding it was made for the couple by Gerri Schultz. Terry Kapfer, the couple’s grandson, gave the blessing.

Lee “Happy” Kapfer was born and attended school in Neillsville. Elsie Kapfer was born and attended school in Clemons, Iowa.

The couple enjoy bowling and gardening and love birds. Lee likes building wishing wells and bird houses. He is also chairman of the Town of Hewett.

The couple have four sons, Bill and Richard both of Rockford, Ill., Bobby of Black River Falls and Michael of Stoughton. And they have ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Vendel Karaba of route 2, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pawbekiewicz of Withee, with a family dinner at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 1971. A reception followed at the Meadowview County Club.

Mr. and Mrs. Karaba are the parents of three sons, Eugene and John of Milwaukee, Joseph of Owen, and three daughters, Mrs. (Matilda) Palukiewicz, Mrs. Duane (Elizabeth Peissig of Withee, and Mrs. Richard (Marge) Friedenfels of Oak Creek. There are 23 grandchildren, all present for the occasion.

The former Julia Rebra and Vendel Karaba were married February 7, 1921 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Fort Dodge, Iowa. They later became members of Holy Family Rosary Catholic Church of Owen. In 1927 they came to Owen and settled on a farm north of Owen, where they have resided since. Both are retired and enjoying good health.

Approximately 100 relatives and friends gathered at the Thone Karnitz farm, route three, Neillsville, last Sunday to help; in the celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Karnitz’ silver wedding anniversary.
 

A dinner in the afternoon and a luncheon in the evening were served, and included an anniversary cake baked by Mrs. Karnitz.  Many gifts were received by the couple.
 

Friends were present from Tucson, Ariz., Waukegan and Lake Villa, Ill., Barron, Greenwood, Nekoosa, Black River Falls and Neillsville.
 

The Karnitzes were married June 20, 1928, at Greenwood. Their two children, Lois of Black River Falls, and Kenneth and is family of Neillsville, were present.

Mr. and Mrs. Thone Karnitz celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 24. An open house was held at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. kenneth Karnitz, 213 East Fourth St., from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The couple was married at the home of the bride’s (Selma’s) parents in Greenwood by Pastor O.J. Vriesen. Mrs. Jake Wallace, sister of Thone, and Arno Miller, cousin of Selma, were attendants at the couple’s wedding. Both were present for the open house.

Mrs. Herbert Horn and Mrs. Jerold Richmond, both nieces of Selma, made and decorated the cake for the occasion. The couple wore corsages of yellow roses and white carnations.

Mrs. Karnitz is employed as an aide at the Neillsville Memorial Home. Mr. Karnitz is a retired farmer. They live on Rt. 3 Neillsville. Both enjoy good health.

Mr. and Mrs. Karnitz had two children, Mrs. Bernard (Lois) Smetana of Black River Falls and Kenneth of Neillsville. They also have seven grandchildren, Lori, Lisa, Mark, Brian, and Beth Smetana, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Smetana, and Lynette Mueller and Kerry Karnitz, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Karnitz. They have one great grandchild, Kristin Karnitz, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Karnitz.

Among others attending were Mrs. Karpinski’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Neether of Stanley, North Dakota, and her brother, Dale Neether of Kenai, Alaska. The anniversary party was attended by over 100 guests and was held at a Seattle supper club.

They were married June 7, 1958, in Spencer. They have two children, Tim (Kathy) Karau of Tripoli and Tracey (Don) Scharbarth of Minocqua. They also have two grandchildren, Tyler and Abby.

They owned and operated Abby Ag Lime in the Spencer and Abbotsford area for 20 years before retiring and moving to the Northwoods to be closer to their family.

Jim and Nancy are both avid wildlife enthusiasts and spend a great deal of time in the woods with their children, grandchildren and hunting dogs.

The Silver Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kattre and a reunion of the Kalepp family were observed jointly at the Kattre home in Abbotsford (Clark Co., Wis.) on Sunday.

The afternoon and early evening were devoted to dancing, with music by Floyd Klemetson of Curtiss and Bob Mattson of Owen. There was a mock wedding and a buffet supper served.

Principals of the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kalepp Jr. of Abbotsford, as bride and groom; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Polzin of Janesville and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Carpenter of Abbotsford as attendants. Clayton Kattre was the officiant. Gerry Kalepp gave the bride, and Clarence Kalepp was the soloist.

Alice Kalepp and Gilbert Kattre were united in marriage, August 11, 1945 at Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford, with the Rev. John Brandt officiating.

They made their home in Abbotsford since that time.

The Kattres have three sons, Clayton, a student at Wisconsin State University, Eau Claire; Rodney, presently employed in Sparta; and Gil at home. Mrs. Kattre's mother, Mrs. Adolph Kalepp, makes her home with them.

Her for the day's festivities were the Wm. Kalepp family, the Clarence Kalepp family, the Harold Kalepp family, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kalepp, who came from Milwaukee for the day.

Mr. Kattre's only brother, Elroy of St. Paul, was unable to be here.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kauffman observed their 50th wedding anniversary June 9, at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Kauffman, in the Town of Fremont.

Relatives attending included their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Didier, and daughters, Rosanne and Renee of Oswego, Ill.; her sister, Mrs. Ross Thompson of Naperville, Ill.; his brother, Howard Kauffman of Martinsville, Ind.; and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Kauffman and children, Michael, Jean and Kathleen. Neighbors and friends joined in the anniversary celebrations and dinner.

Harry F. Kauffman was born December 13, 1880, in Bloomington, Ill.  Emma J. Jeffrey was born in Waynesville, Ill., October 8, 1889.  They were married June 9, 1909, in the Christian Church at Clinton, Ill., and made their home for five years at Stanford.  Later they lived in Iowa six years, and in 1920 they came to Clark County and purchased a farm in the Town of Fremont, where they made their home until 1945, when they moved to Neillsville. 

They purchased the William Hemp residence on Hewett Street and later purchased the Joe Urban residence on Oak Street, where they now live.  Seven years ago, Mr. Kauffman suffered a stroke which has confined him to a wheelchair; but he has learned to use his left hand and does considerable painting.  Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman have five grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kauffman observed their 51st wedding anniversary Thursday at their home on Oak Street. They were married June 9, in the Christian Church at Clinton, Ill.  They operated a farm in the Town of Fremont 25 years from 1920 to 1945 when they moved to Neillsville.  In 1951 Mr. Kauffman suffered a stroke which has confined him to a wheelchair.  During recent years he has taken to painting with his left hand, (not being able to use his right), and he has produced more than 50 beautiful nature pictures of birds animals and of the out-of-doors in which he loved to tramp, hunt and fish for many years.

Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Kauffman celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home, Wednesday, Oct. 4. Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman are both in excellent health and enjoyed meeting their many friends at an open house during the afternoon.

In the evening an eight o’clock dinner was served to the family, all of whom were present for the occasion. Two large wedding cakes and 50 gold candles served as center piece on the table and flowers and yellow and gold streamers decorated the home.

Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman received a purse of money, many lovely gifts and flowers and cards for the occasion.

Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman were married Oct. 4, 1894, in the town of Akau, Richland county. They moved to Clark county in 1905 and have resided here since. They have five children, Loris, Donald, Fred and Mrs. Joe (Elsie) Fleischman, of Abbotsford; and Mrs. George (Elma) Gurney, of Colby, Wis. There are 13 grand children and three great grand children.

Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Kauffman were married 60 years Oct. 4. On Saturday, the occasion was celebrated when the children and other relatives were here for open house. Friends called during the afternoon and evening.
 

Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman received many lovely gifts and cards. There were two large wedding cakes, gladioli, carnations, and potted mums. Mrs. Elmer Jensen and Mrs. Dorothy Olson, of Unity, sang several selections and Mrs. Jensen gave a prayer.
 

For the occasion, Mrs. Kauffman was presented with a corsage of pink carnations by her children and Mr. Kauffman had a boutonniere.
 

They were married Oct. 4, 1894, in the town of Akau, Richland county, and have been residents of Clark county since 1905.
 

Their five children were here for the celebration: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kauffman, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kauffman, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. George (Alma) Gurney, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Don Kauffman and Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Elsie) Fleischman, Abbotsford. Mrs. Kauffman, one of a family of 12 children, has one sister and one brother living. Mr. Kauffman is the last of his family.
 

Of their 17 grand children, those present included Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Van Sleet and Allan Kauffman, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Frome, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kilty and family and Bobby Kauffman, Unity. There are 14 great grand children.

On Sunday, Aug. 16th, 1953, relatives and friends helped Mr. and Mrs. Carl Keiner, Eau Claire, celebrate their Silver Wedding anniversary at the Harold Stabnow cottage at Tioga, with a picnic dinner and supper.

The anniversary was on August 6th, but because of conflicting dates, was celebrated this day. Also celebrated was Mrs. Carl Keiner's birthday, which fell on this day, and her daughter Patricia's birthday, which was August 14th.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson, Miss Louise Keiner and their mother, Mrs. Christ Keiner, attended the wedding of their niece and granddaughter, Mary Jane Kensmoe, to John Thoreson, at the First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire Sunday afternoon.

Sunday evening, they attended the celebration of the 35th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Keiner, which was held at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Black.

Others present were the Keiner’s’ three daughters and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Marle) Gudmanson and children, Kayla, Mary Beth and Donald, of Sauk City, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Patricia) Black and children, Juliann and Steven, and Mr. and Mrs. John (Mary) Thoreson, all of Eau Claire; also Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tolleth of Wisconsin Dells; Mr. and Mrs. Perry Volk of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Stabnow of Tomah; Harold Stabnow of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Etta and Thomas Kensmoe of Eau Claire; Frederick Gotz of Pittsville; and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Leberg and children, Kim and Bruce of Wisconsin Rapids.

Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose (Jake) Keller observed their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday afternoon at Dorchester Memorial Hall. About 200 persons were present at the open house from 12:30 until 5 p.m., and the dinner which followed. A mock wedding in the afternoon featured Henry Kauer as the bride, and Mrs. Kauer as the groom. William Jantsch served as the preacher, and Mrs. and Mrs. Dale Geiger were the attendants. Card playing and dancing provided other entertainment. Allen Rau, Medford, provided music for dancing.

Ambrose Keller was born October 12, 1901 at Cazenovia. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. John Keller. The former Frieda Doege was born November 9, 1903 at Thorp, and her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Doege. She received his education in the Reseburg School at Thorp. The couple was married in Madison for two years, and then purchased a farm near Curtiss, where they farmed for over 40 years. They moved to the village of Dorchester in 1967.

Mr. Keller is in good health and enjoys fishing and hunting. Mrs. Keller is very active in craft work, rug making and gardening. She is a member of the Clovernook Homemakers Club, and they both are members of the Dorchester Senior Citizens, where Mrs. Keller serves as treasurer.

The couple has four daughters, all of whom were here for the wedding anniversary celebration. They are Miss Eileen Keller, Dorchester, Mrs. Plut (Marcella) Leahy, Chippewa Falls, Mrs. Elroy (Geraldine) Diethman, Benson, Arizona, and Mrs. John (Joan) Detimering, Bettendorf, Iowa. They have nine grandchildren and one-great-grandchild.

The attendants at the original wedding were Mrs. Casper Lindner, Greenwood, sister of Mr. Keller, and Mr. Reinhold Doege, Apache Junction, Arizona. Mrs. Keller’s brother. They both were here for the anniversary.

Other guests came from Butternut, Reedsburg, Loyal, Greenwood, Eau Claire, Withee, Colby, Abbotsford, and the local community.

Mr. and Mrs. George Kelley of Abbotsford celebrated their silver wedding anniversary at open house at the village hall Saturday evening. Many friends from the area attended and relatives came from Green Bay, Antigo and Black Creek. Six of the eight attendants at the marriage were here for the anniversary.

The evening was spent in dancing to music by Mr. and Mrs. Emil Daellenbach, and refreshments were served.

The honored couple was presented an anniversary cake by their children and another which was made by Miss Marlene Schelling and Miss Diane Schultz.

Miss Beatrice Vanden Avond and George Kelley were married Oct. 28, 1939, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Green Bay. On Nov. 1 of that year they came to Abbotsford and have made their home there since that time. Mr. Kelley was employed as a salesman for Wis. Dairy Laboratory and five years ago he began operating his own business known as the Kelley Dairy Supply. For the past seven years Mr. Kelley served the village as Marathon County Supervisor.

The Kelley have six children: Mary of Wausau, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Brown of Pittsburg, Kan., twins; Patrick, who attends St. Mary's Seminary at Baltimore, Md.; John, Mark and Pamela at home.

They also have one grandchild.

EDWARD KENYONS, LOYAL, MARK GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY ON SUNDAY

Spencer - The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kenyon was celebrated on Sunday afternoon at the farm home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kenyon, who live about three and one-half miles northeast of Spencer.

At 4 o’clock a dinner was served to approximately 75 guests and in the evening cards were played after which a midnight lunch was served.

Mrs. Kenyon, the former Miss Edna Fuller, was born at Unity on Feb. 10, 1882, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Fuller. Her husband was born in New York State, Jan. 2, 1872.

They were married in Spencer, Dec. 4, 1899, the marriage being performed by Sam Pickett, justice of the peace. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Tunnel City and in 1907 they moved to Unity where Mr. Kenyon conducted a dray and delivery business. He was also employed in the Box Factory.

In 1926 they moved to Riplinger where they lived until 1937, later returning to Unity. Since the spring of 1942 they have made their home with their son, Keith, on a farm near Loyal.

Ten children were born to them, one of whom died in infancy, One son, Pfc. Lorsin, who is in the Army and stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash., was the only one unable to attend the celebration.

The other eight children and families were present at the gathering and included Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Helen) Kleinschmidt, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph (Bessie) Wienke, Glenwood City; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kenyon, Mr. and Mrs. Lester (Pearl) Morrison, Lee and Lloyd Kenyon, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kenyon, Unity, and Keith Kenyon, at home. They also have 19 grandchildren.

The honored couple received many gifts and a purse of money from the many relatives, neighbors, and friends who came to extend their congratulations.

KESSLER SISTERS BECOME BRIDES IN DOUBLE RITE IN NEILLSVILLE

St. Mary's Catholic Church at Neillsville provided the setting on Thursday morning for the marriage of two sisters--Misses Mildred Lucille and Elaine Marjorie Kessler--daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Carl B. Kessler, route 1, Neillsville. The former became the bride of Ernest R. Schwellenbach, route 3, Neillsville, while Elaine Marjorie is the bride of James Duane Haas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard J. Haas, Neillsville.

Officiant at the rites was the Rev. Joseph Eisenmann.

Sequins sparkled on the low necklines that topped the sheer organza-over-taffeta gowns chosen by the sister brides. Sequins also detailed the lace appliques set into the boufant skirts that terminated in court trains. Matching gauntlets and illusion finger-tip veils attached to caps embroidered with pearls completed their ensemble. Each carried a bouquet consisting of a white orchid surrounded with Stephanotis.

Attendants for Mrs. Schwellenbach were her sister, Miss Angeline Kessler of Neillsville, as maid of honor and Mrs. Leo Kessler, route 1, Neillsville, a sister-in-law of the bride, and Caroline Prock, Neillsville, a cousin of the groom as bridesmaids.

Edward Schwellenbach, Janesville, was best man for his uncle. Another nephew, Delmane Schwellenbach and Leo Kessler, a brother of the bride, were groomsmen.

Comprising the aids for Mrs. Haas was Miss Audrey Feirer, Marshfield, as maid of honor and Mrs. Louis Kessler, Neillsville, a sister-in-law and Mrs. William Juneau, Greenwood, a cousin of the bride, as bridesmaids.

James F. Hannan came from Carlsbad, Calif. to serve as best man for Mr. Haas. Groomsmen included Louis Kessler, Neillsville, and Charles Meyer, Neillsville, a brother-in-law.

Completing the wedding party were the ushers Carl Kessler, Jr., Neillsville, a brother of the brides and James Chadwick, Greenwood for the Schwellenbachs, and Kenneth Kessler and Ralph Pitzrick for the Haases.

All six bridal aides were identically clad in white chenille flocked sheer gowns featuring floral patterns on blue backgrounds. Rows of pleats extended down the fronts of the bouffant skirts and over the shoulders, They wore matching gauntlets and swiss braid hats trimmed with seed pearls and matching veils.

In the afternoon the newlyweds greeted guests at a reception in the Legion Hall, and dinner was served in the church dining hall.

When the Schwellenbachs return from their honeymoon in California, they will take up residence on route 1, Neillsville. The new Mrs. Schwellenbach is a graduate from Neillsville High School and her husband, who is a graduate of St. Andrew's School in Potosi, is employed by the Ben Schwellenbach Implement Co. in Christie

The Haases, who are currently touring the West, will make their home in Barron, where he teaches industrial arts in the high school there. He is a graduate of Stout State College, Menomonie. Prior to her marriage, his bride, who is a graduate of Neillsville High School and the Milwaukee Accredited School of Beauty Culture, was manager of the D and M Beauty Shop in Marshfield.

Ray and Viola Keuer, Granton, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Saturday, May 3, with an open house, supper and dance at the Granton Sportsman’s Club. The couple were married May 2, 1936, at Zion Lutheran Parsonage. Rev. A. Laesch officiated. Attending the anniversary celebration was Mrs. Edna (Keuer) Zalabsky of Pittsville.

Ray Keuer was born February 11, 1916, in the Town of Lynn; he was educated at Mayflower School and Granton High School. The former Viola Pischer was born in the Town of Grant on August 17, 1916. She attended Wild Rose School and Zion Lutheran School. Until 1961, the couple farmed in the Town of Lynn, then moved to Marshfield. In 1968, they moved to Granton where Keuer was self-employed as a carpenter. He retired in 1981. Mr. and Mrs. Keuer are members of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Granton Senior Citizens Club.

They have a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Annabelle) Garbisch, and three grandchildren. A son, Edward, died in March 1964 and a grandson died in 1971.

Mr. and Mrs. G.G. Kieser of Abbotsford, who 40th wedding anniversary was September 29, 1965, were honored at a surprise celebration given them by their children on Sunday afternoon at the city hall at Abbotsford. The honored guests were presented with a stereo radio and record player.

The Kiesers have made their home for more than 30 years in Abbotsford, where Mr. Kieser is a barber.

Those present for the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Kieser and son of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kieser and five children of Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hood and son of Melrose; Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Brown and son of Mason City, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Bartz and four sons of Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Kieser of Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Puhl of Menomonie, and Miss Marjorie Kieser of Mondovi.

The Rev. and Mrs. Quentin Quade (Dorothy Kieser) were the only members of the family not present for the celebration.

Mr. and Mrs. G.G. Kieser of Abbotsford marked their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, August 31, with service of praise followed by open house at Christ Lutheran Church, Abbottsford. Gottlieb Kieser and the former Stella Habeck were married September 29, 1925, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Habeck, in Athens. They are the parents of nine children, Frederick, Neillsville; Mrs. Quentin (Dorothy) Quade, Cedar Rapids, Ia.; Donald, Abbotsford; Mrs. Floyd (Doris) Hodd, Melrose; Mrs. Weldon (Marilyn) Brown, Mason City, Ia.; Mrs. Kurt (Carol) Bartz, Merrill; Dennis, Thorp; Mrs. Warren (Muriel) Puhl, Estherville, Ia.’ Mrs. Knute (Marjorie) Gehring, Eleva. Mrs. Bud Simmons of Waukegan, Ill; Mrs. Leslie Nikkinen, Lake Forest, Ill.; Mrs. August Pohl of Milwaukee, a former Curtiss resident, arrived her Friday evening to call on old friends and neighbors. They were enroute to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kind. On Saturday they attended the 48th wedding anniversary celebration of Mrs. Pohl's brother, Otto Kind, and his wife, which was held at the Star Lodge Motel, Loyal, on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Johnson, brother of Mrs. Kind, also attended the celebration. Nieces and nephews of the couple who attended were from Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Kraut, Donald Kraut and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Schiszik.

Mr. and Mrs. Conrad King celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 4, 1951, at St. Anthony’s Church, Loyal, Wis.  They were married Nov. 4, 1901 in St. John’s Church, Edgar, Wis., with Father Rhoade, Marshfield, Wis., officiating at that ceremony.  The attendants at the time were Mary Lindenmeyer, sister of the bride, and John King, brother of the groom.

The jubilarians renewed their marriage vows Sunday at an Anniversary Mass celebrated by their son, Father Norbert King, and at which Mass the children and grandchildren received Holy Communion.  Donald and Ronald Schlichte, twin grandsons, served at the mass.  St. Anthony’s Girls’ Choir, under the direction of Sister M. Thelma, organist, sang the jubilee Mass.  The altar was decked with yellow and white mums.

After the Mass a turkey dinner was served by a group of ladies from to parish to sixty guests.  Those serving included Mesdames: Nick Beaver, Raphael Haas, Lothar Oestreich, Wilbur Hannan, James Christenson, and Clayton Englebretson.  During the dinner the Girls’ Choir sang a number of songs.  A poem was recited by Terrence Denk, pupil from St. Anthony’s School.  Supper was again served in the evening.

Mrs. King was attired in a two piece orchid dress with matching hat and accessories and wore a corsage of yellow baby mums.

The hall was decorated in yellow and gold with white bells and streamers.

An unusual note was added to the celebration by the receipt of a cablegram received from his Holiness, Pope Pius XII, bestowing the Apostolic Blessing upon the jubilarians.

A purse and other gifts were presented to the honored couple.

Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Kippenhan celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary at their home in Greenwood on Sunday with 60 relatives in attendance at the dinner and open house in the afternoon and evening.
 

Mr. Kippenhan and the former Miss Martha Awe were married on June 23, 1915, by the Rev. Otto Saewert.  They went to housekeeping on a farm northwest of Greenwood.  Six children were born to them, Alvin, Herbert, and Paul, and three daughters, Mrs. Emery (Norma) Seiger, Mrs. Elmer (Esther) Meinhardt, and Mrs. Price (Rosa) Davis.  All were present for the festivities with the exception of Herbert and his family.

Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Kippenhan celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently in Immanuel United Church.  Festivities began with a dinner for 175 relatives and friends, served at 12:30 p.m. in the church dining room.  Members of the Immanuel Women’s Guild served.

An "open house" was held at the church Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.

A large-wedding cake, with the numeral "50" on it, served as centerpiece and vases of spring flowers decorated the tables.

Mrs. Kippenhan wore a yellow rose corsage and her husband and attendants wore white carnation boutonnieres.

Present were the honored couple’s six children and their families, which include their 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson: Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Kippenhan of the Town of Mead; Mr. and Mrs. Emery (Norma) Sieger of Kenosha; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kippenhan and family of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer (Esther) Meinhardt, Lois and Douglas of the Town of Warner; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kippenhan on the home place; and Mr. and Mrs. Price (Rose) Davis and family of Milwaukee. Two grandsons were not able to be present: Allen Meinhardt, who is attending school in Germany and Edwin Kippenhan, in the navy in Scotia, N. Y.

Theodore Kippenhan was born in the Town of Mead on January 4, 1888, to John and Minna (Franz) Kippenhan.  He received his education in the Town of Mead School.  Before his marriage he worked in logging camps in the winter and on farms in the southern part of Wisconsin in the summer months.  His hobbies are fishing and hunting.

The Kippenhans are members of the Immanuel United Church of Christ. He was a deacon of this church for six years, and his wife was secretary for the parish Ladies Aid Society (now the Women’s Guild).

Mr. Kippenhan was chairman, treasurer, and assessor in the Town of Mead for a number of years.

Mrs. Kippenhan, the former Martha Awe, was born July 5, 1893, to Henry and Fredericka (Loos) Awe in the Town of Green Grove.  She attended school there and remained at home until her marriage.  Her hobbies are gardening, especially flowers, sewing and fancy work.

After their marriage they settled on a farm seven miles northwest of Greenwood, now operated by their son, Paul, and his wife.  They lived there for 41 years, until they retired from farming in 1956. Then they lived for five years with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Meinhardt, and then moved into the city of Greenwood in 1961, and have resided here since.

They were married on June 23, 1915, at the bride’s parental home in the Town of Green Grove by the Rev. Otto Saewert, pastor of Immanuel Reformed Church of Greenwood, now the United Church of Christ.  Original attendants present were Arthur Awe and Calvin Franz.  Other attendants were the late Ruth Wiltsey and Helen Kippenhan.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kissling celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary recently at the home of his mother, Mrs. Harry Kissling with between 75 and 100 relatives, friends and neighbors in attendance.

The afternoon and evening were spent visiting, playing cards, and having a good time. Refreshments were served, followed by a supper with loads of food, a wedding cake was the table center piece, Ice cream was served with the wedding cake.

The couple were presented with many gifts, cards and gifts of money.

Jane Pepper, daughter of the late Everett (Irma) Pepper, and Ernest Kissling, son of the late Harry Kissling and Mrs. Harry (Alice) Kissling, were united in marriage June 8, 1950 at the Neillsville Methodist Church, with the Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating. They were attended by her sister, Betty Pepper Kapfer and Leon Kapfer.

They are the parents of two children, Michael of Neillsville and Vicki, a student at Winona (Minn.) College.

They both graduated from Neillsville High School. Ernest was raised in this vicinity and attended Cunningham rural school before entering high school. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Navy and served for around 1 1/2 years, when the war ended. He was stationed at Seattle, Wa.

Mrs. Kissling has been employed at the Clark County Highway office the past six years. Ernest has been employed by a building center in Marshfield homes for about 20 years.

They purchased the Cannonville School when the rural schools were sold and have made a home of it.

Fifty years ago on December 14, 1904, Katherine Schnoor and George Klein exchanged wedding vows at Davenport, Iowa.  Last Saturday, December 18, those 50 years of married life was culminated in a Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration.

Following their marriage they continued to live in Iowa until 1913 when they moved to a farm in the Town of Beaver. They purchased some timbered land there but lived on a rented farm for two years after which they purchased the farm that was their home until 1952 when they moved into the city of Loyal.

While living at their farm home Mr. Klein served as clerk in La Tart School District and also as a supervisor on the town board.  Mrs. Klein was kept busy raising a family of nine children. These nine children are all living and were present for their parents Golden Wedding Celebration.

The celebration began with a family noontime dinner served in the Municipal Hall.  From 2 to 4 Open House was observed with the daughters of the Klein’s serving.  Later in the afternoon lunch was served.  The family spent the evening at the Klein home.  Many beautiful gifts and cards of congratulations were received by Mr. and Mrs. Klein.

Adding to the interest of the occasion was the fact that two daughters and one son were also celebrating wedding anniversaries on or near the date of their parents’ anniversary.  Mr. and Mrs. Phil Schwanke were married 17 years the fourteenth of December and Mr. and Mrs. George Klein were married ten years, also on December 14, while Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ampe were married 27 years on December 19.

The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kloth of Abbotsford was celebrated at their home Sunday, Aug. 8.

Church services were held in their honor that morning at Christ Lutheran church, Abbotsford. A dinner at the church parlors was served for the family and relatives, and an open house was held from 1:30 p.m. through the evening.

Mrs. Kloth wore a gold carnation for the occasion and Mr. Kloth a golden boutonniere. Herman Kloth and Elsie Frishman were married at Wausau Aug. 8, 1905.

Mr. Kloth was born Dec. 31, 1887, in Illinois. He had been a farmer all his life, and is still employed. Mrs. Kloth was born Oct. 14, 1897 at Medford.

The attendants at their wedding, Mrs. Irene Tische of Hamburg, and Martin Grawein of Minocqua, friends of the couple, were both present.

The Kloths are the parents of four daughters and one son, Mrs. Walter (Blondina) Bucki, Medford, Mrs. Richard (Venna) Schmidt Jr., Dorchester, Mrs. Frank (Esther) Umlauft, Stetsonville, Mrs. Ray (Jean) Steen, Medford. There are 18 grand children and five great grand children.

On Saturday, Aug. 7, 1954, forty relatives and friends held a surprise Silver Wedding celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Klune Sr. at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Thiel.

On Aug. 10, 1929, Mary Horvat and Joseph Klune were united in marriage at St. Mary's Catholic Church at West Allis, Wis. They resided there for fifteen years, coming to Greenwood in 1944, where they purchased the tavern from Frank LaBonte, and which they are still operation.

They have two sons, Joseph (Red) of Key West, Florida, and Edward, who has just returned from Korea, a daughter Mrs. Bruce (Delores) Thiel, Greenwood, and a granddaughter, Sandra Thiel.

Mr and Mrs. Ferdinand Knoop of the town of Pine Valley celebrated their golden wedding on Wednesday, June 30, about 60 relatives and neighbors gathered to join with them in celebrating the event.

Mr and Mrs. Knoop were both born in Germany and came to this county with their parents when quite young. The families settled in Washington County near West Bend. They were married in 1876, and settled on wild land in Pine Valley. Out of this wilderness they developed a fine farm, and built and maintained a good home for their family. To them were born eight children, three of whom died in infancy. Those living are Clara living in Neillsville; Emma and Louis in Chili; Elsie, Mrs. Wm. Duge, in the town of Grant, and Frank on the home farm.

The many friends of this worthy couple hope that they have yet before them, many years of happy life.

The Gerald Lucht home at Route 2, Spencer, was the scene Sunday afternoon, June 25th, of the 65th wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. George W. Koch, Route 2, Spencer. An Open House was held from 2 to 5 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Koch were married in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Route 4, Marshfield, on June 26, 1907.

Mrs. Koch is the former Leda Schilling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schilling of Marshfield.

Mr. Koch was born in Horicon, Wisconsin and moved to Route 4, Marshfield with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Koch.

The couple have two children, Mrs. Gerald (Darlene) Lucht, Route 2, Spencer, and Melvin G. Koch, Dallas, Texas.

For the occasion the buffet table was decorated with a beautiful centerpiece, a gift of the celebrant's grandchildren, Mr. and Ms. David Lucht, and Larry Lucht, Route 2, Spencer, and Specialist 4, Chuck A. Lucht, home on leave from the United States Army, stationed at Schwabach, German.

Coffee was served by Mrs. Harold Grambow and Mrs. David Lucht.

Approximated 60 relatives and friends attended the Open House from Hartford, Neenah, Wausau, Waukesha, Reedsburg, Manitowoc, Waupun, Marshfield, and the immediate area, and from Washington, D.C. and Dallas, Texas.

Special prayers were said from Mr. and Mrs. Koch by the Rev. Walter J. Koepsell, pastor of St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church, Route 1, Marshfield, of which church Mr. and Ms. Koch are members.

Also attending were Mrs. Lydia Gentz of Hartford and Mrs. Edwin Koch of Greenwood, who were attendants at the original ceremony. They are the sister and brother of the groom.

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Koehler of route 1, Abbotsford, celebrated their silver wedding anniversary Friday evening, Nov. 20, 1964 at the village hall, where between 75 and 100 friends and neighbors gathered to mark the occasion.

The beautifully decorated cake which centered the table was a gift from the children and grandchildren.

Dorothy Wragge and Edgar Koehler were married at Pierce, Neb., Nov. 19, 1939. They farmed there until eight years ago, Nov. 29, when they moved to a farm in the town of Holton (Marathon Co., Wis.)

Mr. and Mrs. Koehler are both active members of Christ Lutheran Church at Abbotsford. Mr. Koehler is servign as an elder in the church and Mrs. Koehler is one of the Sunday school teachers and also a member of the Priscilla Guild.

Mrs. Koehler is active in the Rosedale Homemakers Club and is currently president of that group.

The Koehlers have three children: Mrs. Larry (Diane) Empey, route 1, Abbotsford; Gary, who attends Wis. State University at Eau Claire, and Rickey, at home. They also have two grandchildren, Lori Ann and Paul Empey.

Here for the celebration and the weekend were two of Mrs. Koehler's brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Wragge and Mr. and Mrs. James Wragge of Pierce, Neb.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kohlnhofer celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary Sunday, October 26. There were guests of honor at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Kohlnhofer who hosted the event. They were married October 26, 1915, At the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood.

Mr. Kohlnhofer was born January 30, 1897, in Springenberg, Czechoslovakia, Bohmerwald and came to America in 1904, settling near Manitowoc. In 1911 he moved to Greenwood. His wife, the former Margaret Schober, who was born near Millston in Jackson County on July 17, 1895, moved to the Greenwood area in 1911. After their marriage they settled on a farm four miles northeast of Greenwood and lived there until 1949, when they retired and moved into the city.

The Kohlnhofer’s have two daughters and five sons, Mrs. Joseph (Barbara) DeMar of McHenry, Ill., John of Albany, Ore., Mrs. Joseph (Magdaline) Kettner of Menomonie, Victor of Lakeville, Minn., Clayton and Francis of Greenwood, and Joseph of Milwaukee. The family includes 37 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Koplitz of route 1, Curtiss, celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary Sunday, August 29, 1965, at their home. Many friends from the neighborhood and relatives attended the open house held in the afternoon from 2 to 5 o’clock. Among them were the Rev. and Mrs. Ralph Claybough of Nekoosa, formerly of Owen, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Tieman of Owen, the attendants at their wedding.

Among the highlights of the day was a telephone calle in the morning from a sister of Mrs. Koplitz in Watseka, Illinois, and one in the afternoon from Dr. Eugene Koplitz, Greely Colorado, a brother of Mr. Koplitz.

The former Edna Bogue and Harold Koplitz were married August 29, 1940 in the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, Iowa. After their married they lived on farms at Stanley, Withee, and Owen, and for the past five years have been on ….(the rest of my article was cut off).

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Korntved celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at the Unity Memorial Hall Friday, May 30, 1969.

A 2 o'clock dinner was served to about one hundred relatives and friends. The table was decorated with a money tree, a gift from the grandchildren, Craig and Laura Aderhold, and by an eight tier anniversary cake, made and decorated by Mrs. Korntved.

A mock wedding was put on by the following friends: Mr. and Mrs. Donald Weis, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Weis, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Mellenthin, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Melander, Arnold Dietel, and Mrs. Don Kauffman.

In the evening a dance was held, followed by a midnight lunch. Guests were from Wausau, Schofield, Milwaukee, Chicago, Brookfield, Mishicot, Rhinelander, Three Lakes, Chetek, Green Bay, Spencer, and the Unity area.

Mr. and Mrs. William Korth and their entire family gathered at their home in Neillsville Sunday to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage, and it was indeed a happy event.

William Korth and Miss Augusta Jahr were married at Lake Mills, Wisconsin, Sept. 12, 1886.

They lived in Lake Mills till 1900, Mr. Korth following the carpenter trade most of the time.

In October of that year they came to Clark County and bought a farm in the Town of Grant, which they carried on until about 15 years ago, when they bought a home in Neillsville, where they have lived since.

Mr. Korth was a progressive farmer and was active in promoting agriculture while he was on the farm. Both he and his wife have won the respect and friendship of all who know them, and all will rejoice with them in their having finished a half century of wedded life.

Mr. and Mrs. Korth have five children: Charles in the Town of Pine Valley, Emil in York, Leo in Grant, Louis at home and Mrs. Frank Knoop in Pine Valley. All of these with fifteen grandchildren were present at the reunion Sunday. A brother August, his wife and son Edard and wife, another son Rudolph, wife and two children, all of Lake Mills, were present.

Rev. and Mrs. Wilson M. Bixler were in attendance, and Mr. Bixler officiated in the ceremony in which Mr. and Mrs. Kurth pledged themselves a new to mutual love and devotion.

A fine dinner was served, and a number of fine presents were bestowed.

In the evening the younger members gathered at the Leo Kurth home for a social hour.

Mrs. Anna Lamovec was the organist and Mrs. Kenneth Horn, Jr., the soloist. The Choir girls also took part.

Frank Koschak and Mary Lamovec were married August 10, 1946, at Holy Family Catholic Church by the Rev. Bernard Ambrozich. Their attendants were Stanley Koschak and Olga Butala.

Mr. and Mrs. Koschak have five children. They are Jacqueline of Miami, Fla., Francis who attends the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Linda of Winnetka, Ill., and John and Steven at home.

The Koschaks farmed on the home farm northeast of Willard until 1964.Mr. Koschak is employed at a mobile home plant and farms on a small scale. Both are active in parish and community work. Mr. Koschak is treasurer of the American-Slovenian Catholic Union, Lodge No. 136.

Festivities included a supper at the outdoor shelter at Willard. Barbecue wieners, brats, and potica, with all the trimmings, were served. An anniversary cake, made by Mrs. John F. Trunkel, decorated the table.

Mr. and Mrs. Yernie Kovatch of Owen, Wis. (Clark Co., Wis.) experienced a surprise celebration of their golden wedding anniversary July 4, 1946, in a whirl of excitement and gaiety.

After a brief drive about the countryside Mr. and Mrs. Kovatch returned home to be greeted by the strains of Wagner’s Wedding March, and the smiles and best wishes of over 200 guests.

The house was fittingly embellished with bells and garden flowers. The decorous atmosphere was completed by the guests, each of whom wore a golden leaf. Similarly, the bride of fifty years wore a corsage of golden gardenias, and the groom of fifty years, a golden boutonniere.

The wedding dinner was served in the early afternoon, and a buffet luncheon in the evening. The cutting of the three tiered wedding cake brought to an end an unforgettable day.

The couple has eight children and thirteen grandchildren. Those present were John B. of Owen, Mary, with her husband and three children of Milwaukee, Anne, with son and daughter of South Milwaukee, Frank with wife and daughter of Medford, Walter, his wife, son and daughter of Abbotsford, Michael, his wife and two sons of Owen, Charles, wife and two daughters, also of Owen, Frederic and wife of Chicago.

Mr. and Mrs. George Kowalk, Colby, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, October 2, 1977 at the VFW Clubhouse, Colby. The couple was married November 4, 1927 at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby.

Kowalk was born in the Town of Colby, the son of William and Ernestine Kowalk. His wife, the former Gertrude Quist, was born in Alamena, Wisconsin, December 29, 1903, the daughter of Charles and Christine Quist.

He served in the First Division on a company ammunition train before working at Continental Motors, Detroit. After two years in Michigan, they moved to a farm near Colby, where they lived until 1951, when they moved into the town. He worked at Rollo Home until he retired in 1951.

The Kowalks are affiliated with the Zion Lutheran Church and he has served on the school board for Little Grove School.

Attending the celebration were two of her sisters, Mrs. Mabel Kowalk and Mrs. Gladys Baumgart. Otto Kowalk and Herbert Schwocho were present at the wedding. Also attending was their daughter, Mrs. Richard Beguen, Elk Mound. 

Kowieski, John & Julia (50th - 16 FEB 1947)

On Sunday morning, Feb. 16, 1947, a solemn Mass was celebrated in honor of the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. John Kowieski at St. Hedwig’s Church at Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis. The altar was beautifully decorated with yellow and white flowers and golden bouquets. The children, in a body with the bridal couple, received Holy Communion as an offering to the Sacred Heart.

Mr. Kowieski and Julia Krynski were united in marriage on Feb. 16, 1897 in Poland. They came to this country in 1901 and settled on a farm in the Town of Withee. Nine years ago they retired from active farming and moved into the Village of Thorp, which has since been their home. Seven children were born to this union, all of whom were here to attended the Golden Wedding fetivities.

After the Mass the family and friends proceeded to the Kowieski home where a blessing was given by Father Piekarski. Then a bountiful dinner and supper were served. The afternoon and evening was spent visiting and playing cards.

All of the seven children were present: Nick, Joseph and Frank of Chicago, Victoria, Paul, Helen of Thorp and Michael of Greenwood. 19 of the 25 grandchildren helped the grandparents celebrate the occasion. Casimer and John Jarocki were not able to attend because they are in the service. Edward Kowieski is in California; Raymond, Bobby and Daniel Kowieski remained in Chicago.

The bridal couple received many beautiful gifts.

Mr. and Mrs. John Kralcik of Wausau celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Sunday when all of their children and their families were together at their home.

The Kralciks lived at Abbotsford from 1912 to 1926, when they moved to Milan.  They moved to Wausau a year ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Kralcik are both natives of Slovakia and came to America when they were young.  They were married in Chicago, June 2, 1907.

They have three daughters and four sons, Mrs. Charles Potts, Mrs. Kenneth Hause?, John Kralcik, all of Milan; Edward Kralcik, Edgar; and Mrs. Alfred Potts and Joseph Kralcik, Wausau.  Another daughter, Mrs. Peter Horacek, is deceased.

They also have 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The 55th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Kramer, which occurred Jan. 10, was celebrated Sunday when they were surprised at a gathering of relatives at their home. A buffet style supper was served from a table centered with a double wedding ring cake baked and decorated by their grand daughter, Mrs. Fred Hardinger, of Park Falls. The Rev. and Mrs. F. H. Sprengler attended and Rev. Sprengler gave a little talk and a prayer for the honored couple.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Krapf, Sr., observed their 45th wedding anniversary last Sunday. Together with their families, they attended the 10:30 Mass at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.

The former Jenny Koschak and Charles Krapf were married February 17, 1931, in Waukegan, Il., at the Mother of God Church. The Rev. Fr. Butala officiated.

Their attendants were Christine (Koschak) Belensky and Nick Keller of Waukegan.

After their marriage they lived in Waukegan for two years, then move onto a farm near Greenwood in the spring of 1933, where they are now living.

The honored couple has three children, Charles Krapf, Jr., Mrs. Edward (Theresa) Zorman of Loyal, and Mrs. Duane (Betty) Patridge of Schofield; and six grandchildren, Sandra Krapf and Rochelle Krapf, Ann Marie and Diane Lea Zorman, and Kristina Kay and David Patridge.

In the afternoon, an anniversary dinner and supper were held at the home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Krasselt celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Friday evening, May 11, at their home in the village.

Mr. and Mrs. Krasselt were married on May 11, 1895, in the Lutheran parsonage at Joliet, Ill., by the Rev. Shellie. They later moved to Spencer, where they lived on a farm for several years. Six years ago they moved to their present home.

During the evening’s celebration their pastor, the Rev. J. C. Langholz, spoke, and their small gathering, and their small granddaughter, Marlene Anderegg, sang "Jesus Loves Me."

All of the six children of the Krasselts, together with their families, were present, as follows: Mrs. William (Elsie) Luchterhand of Marshfield, Mrs. Alvin (Vera) Kissinger of Chili, George and Siegert Krasselt of Spencer, Mrs. Edwin (Susie) Anderegg of Loyal, and Mrs. James (Emma) Engstrom of Woodstock, Ill.

Oscar and Helen Krause, Rt. 2 Granton, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Sunday, October 11, at a surprise party given in their honor by friends and relatives. The event was held at the David Hillert farm which was formerly owned by Oscar and Helen.

Oscar was born to Carl and Emilie (Roder) Krause on April 9, 1903, in Granton. He attended school in the Granton area. The former Helen Faber daughter of Pete and Rose Sanger Faber was born on April 14, 1904, in the Lynn area. She attended school in the Town of Lynn.

They were married on October 14, 1926, at Zion American Lutheran Church, Town of Grant, by the Jacob Reiff. He had also baptized and confirmed both of them. They are still members of the same congregation. After their marriage, they purchased an 80-acre farm in the Town of Grant and farmed there for 39 years. They sold the farm in 1965 and retired to a new home in Granton.

The two original attendants were Reinhold Krause, Marshfield, a brother to the groom and who was also present at the gathering, and Geneva Verhasselt, Phlox, a sister of the bride. She was unable to attend the celebration. 

Krebs, Mr./Mrs. Otto (Gold - 27 JAN 1939)

On Friday Jan. 27, 1939, Otto Krebs and his wife were married fifty years. They celebrated the event by inviting around 80 neighbors, relatives and friends to their home Saturday to have supper and enjoy the evening with them. A bounteous meal was served to all present which was fully enjoyed and praised. The house was decorated for the occasion with gold and green streamers as was the table with a large wedding cake trimmed in gold and gold candles and candle sticks. A large bouquet of jonquils adorned the table.

Mr. and Mrs. Krebs have lived on the twenty-six road 3 miles south and 1 ¼ miles of Spencer on a farm for the past 37 years. They formerly lived in Green Lake County. They are parents of nine children, six of them were at their parents home to help celebrate the golden anniversary. The children are Bill, (Martha) Mrs. Fay Damon, (Mae) Mrs. Herbert Krueger, (Ella) Mrs. Jerold Hammet all of Beloit, (Bertha) Mrs. Hulce, Rhinelander, Carl, Montana, Clarence, Wisconsin Rapids, and (Minnie) Mrs. Gaffney, of Marshfield, Ernest at home with his parents, taking care of the farm.

Mrs. Krebs wore a grey dress and Mr. Krebs a dark suit and both wore gold shoulder bouquets.

Those from away who attended the reception were Mrs. Krebs’ brother from Colby, E. Perske, Mrs. A. Damon, Mrs. Herb Krueger and daughter Janene, Mrs. Jerold Hammet and daughter Marilynn all from Beloit, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Smith and daughter Evelyn of Loyal. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mueller, Marshfield. Cards were played and songs were sung. Mrs. Krebs sang the song that they sang ay her wedding fifty years ago. The song was "Lead On", in German language.

At a late hour the guests departed wishing the couple many more years of married life.

Mr. and Mrs. Moritz Kretschmer quietly observed their golden wedding anniversary at their home in this village (Humbird, Clark Co., Wis.) last Friday, Oct. 27th, 1944, and on Saturday evening entertained a few friends at their home.  This notable event in their lives was not observed by a public celebration, owing to war conditions and other circumstances.

We are happy to add the names of Mr. and Mrs. Kretschmer to the long list of Humbirdites, past and present, who have enjoyed a half a century or more of blissful wedded life, and extend to them the congratulations and best wishes of the community which has been their residence for nearly five decades.

On Oct. 27, 1894, as balmy a fall day as the month of October has been this year, Miss Lena, a daughter of Julius Jahn, a leading farmer near Alma, in Buffalo County, and Moritz Kretschmer, son of another prosperous farmer, living only seven miles away, were united in marriage by Rev. Reick at the bride’s home.  A large company of relatives and friends of these popular young people attended the wedding and helped make the day a merry one.  Both were born and grew to adult life in the community in which they were wed.  One son was born to them, and passed away when but a month old.

For five years they lived in their home community, and then moved to a farm in Jackson County.  That was their home for only three years.  In 1902 they moved into Humbird, where they established a fine home.  Mr. Kretschmer engaged in the furniture and undertaking business.  The furniture part was given up several years ago when the hall building and first residence was sold and they moved to their present home.  Then came the date of retirement, when the undertaking business was sold to Rickards, and Mr. Kretschmer kept on working.  His services in the carpentry line will be in demand for as long as he is willing to handle the working tools.  Both Mr. and Mrs. Kretschmer are active in Masonic and Star and society circles and both are members of St. John’s Church.

On Sunday and Monday, Jan. 11th and 12th, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kronberg observed the 50th anniversary of their marriage, which event took place in the township of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.) on Jan. 12th, 1898.

At their home on Sunday afternoon and evening Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kronberg received the congratulations and good wishes of their many relatives and friends. Among those from out of town who were present were: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baum, Mrs. Frank Ulrich and Mr. and Mrs. Mat Kostomlatsky and son Gary, all of Eau Claire; Mrs. Lena Sattler of Rice Lake; M. Sgt. And Mrs. Ed Hull and daughter Joyce Lynn of Colorado Spring, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hanson and sons Duane and Dean of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Schultze, Mrs. Arthur Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wojcik, and Mr. and Mrs. Milburn Haas, all of Stanley; Miss Eva Kronberg of Cumberland; and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Raynor and daughter Patricia of West Allis.

Mr. and Mrs. Kronberg were the recipients of many beautiful gifts and floral offerings, one of the latter being from the local chapter of the I.O.O.F., of which Mr. Kronberg has been a member for many years. They also received a considerable sum of money, part of which was in the form of "golden" coins, wrapped in metal foil and presented in a "golden" basket, which was attractively covered with the same material and tied with a beautiful gold colored ribbon.

An anniversary dinner for the immediate family and close relatives was served on Monday afternoon at two o’clock at the Hotel Royal at Stanley. Covers were laid for sixteen guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kronberg observed the 60th anniversary of their marriage by welcoming friends and relatives at a reception held at their home on Sunday afternoon and evening, Jan. 12, 1958.  They were recipients of several gifts, and of many cash contributions which will be used to purchase a suitable memento of the occasion.  Refreshments were served, and the guests played cards or spent the time visiting together and recalling events of the past.

Among those present there were only four who were guests at the original wedding: Mr. Hugh Banderob of Banff, Alberta, brother of Mrs. Kronberg, who came especially for the occasion, Mrs. Theodore Schultz and Mrs. Joe Haas of Stanley, sisters of Mrs. Kronberg; and Mr. Peter Kronberg of Thorp, brother of Mr. Kronberg.  They recalled that the weather on Jan. 12, 1898 was much like it was on the same date this year - pleasant and mile, and with very little snow on the ground.  Another guest was Mr. J.D. Elmendorf of Greenwood, 94 years old, who was for many years a neighbor of the Kronbergs, and who was greeted by many old friends during the afternoon.

Mr. Kronberg, now 91, and his wife, 76, spent the first twenty years of their married life on a farm northwest of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) and have since resided in the village.  Mr. Kronberg was employed by the village for several years, and later worked for the Blue Moon Cheese Co., retiring at the age of 80.  Both are fortunate in enjoying good health, and are very active in gardening and home tasks of various kinds.  They especially enjoy out of door work when weather permits.  The Kronbergs have three daughters - Mrs. Lydia Raynor of Milwaukee, and Miss Eva Kronberg and Mrs. Patrick Costello of Thorp, and one granddaughter.  A son Arthur, died in 1941.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Krueger, Colby, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at the Curtiss Community Hall September 24, 1977. They were married September 22, 1937.

Mrs. Krueger, the former Ethel Mengel, Loyal, and her husband have four children. They are Mrs. Vincent (Dorothy) Vignulo, New Brunswick, New Jersey, Fred, Owen, Mrs. Kenneth (Ethyl Alice) Olke, Colby, and Mrs. Terry (Betty Ann) Kayhart, Colby.

The Kruegers farmed for Harold Christensen, in the Colby area for many years. Krueger retired in 1971, having worked for six years for Wicks Building, Spencer.

Mrs. Clarence Werling, who was an original bridesmaid, attended the festivities. She is a sister of Mrs. Krueger. A niece, Mrs. Bernice Raczykowski baked the three-tiered cake.

Krueger, Walter and Catherine (22 April 1933-1983)

Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Catherine) Krueger of Abbotsford were married 50 years April 22. The celebration was April 23 at the Colby VFW Hall in Colby, where open house was held. The meal was served by the Ladies Aid Society.

Krueger was born and raised on the home farm at Curtiss and Catherine Schiffler was born and raised in Rice Lake. He had worked for Charlie Winkel in Rice Lake, where the two met and were married in 1933.

The Schifflers purchased some land in Louisiana and the Walter Kruegers stayed with them briefly before coming back to Avoca, then to Rice Lake area. They soon located in Curtiss and rented a farm from Frank Marquardt in Milan, working that farm seven years.

In 1943 they purchased the Krueger farm in Curtiss, living on that farm until the spring of 1980, when their son, Dennis, bought the farm. They now live in an apartment in Abbotsford.

The Kruegers have six children, Arlene, Geraldine, Frederick, Patricia, Dennis and Pamela; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

They are members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Curtiss.

Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kruger celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 14.  The former Helen Gertrude Kromer and Gilbert Kruger were married in Appleton, June 21, 1919.

The celebration of the wedding anniversary occurred a week early so that all of the children might be home for the event.  Their children are Mrs. Gilbert (Dorothy Jean) Loos, Jack Kruger, and Richard Kruger.  There are eight grandchildren.  All were present for the festivities.

A 12:30 p.m. dinner was served at Slims Steak House in Marshfield for members of the family, the two mothers, and the attendants of the original wedding, who were Mrs. Boettcher and Mr. Kromer.

Supper was served at the home for 75 relatives and friends and in the evening many callers came for the open house.

Many nice gifts and cards expressing congratulations and best wishes were received by the honored couple.

About seventy friends and neighbors surprised Mr. and Mrs. Mike Krultz at their home near Willard (Clark Co., Wis.) Sunday evening and helped them celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.

Dancing was enjoyed and at a late hour a delicious lunch was served. The table had, as its centerpiece, a large decorated wedding cake.

Mr. and Mrs. Krultz have resided near Willard for many years and are well known throughout this part of the county. Their many friends join the Gleaner in extending congratulations and best wishes for many more years of happy wedded life.

The date f April 14, 1973 was observed by two Kubera families, Andrew and Myrtle of Thorp, who celebrated their 50th, and Alvin and Marjorie of Black River Falls, who celebrated their 25th. The dates of their anniversaries were February 3rd and April 4th, respectively.

The children of both sets of parents feted them with a 7 p.m. buffet dinner at the Thorp Legion Hall, which was beautifully decorated for the occasion. A huge cake was prepared and presented to Andrew and Myrtle by Darlene Jarocki, and a duplicate cake of 25 years ago to Alvin and Marjorie by their children. Approximately 165 guests, relatives and friends were present to wish the two couples many more years and enjoyed the music of Frank Pakiz and his two friends of Greenwood. They received many beautiful gifts and monetary remembrances.

Myrtle wore a gown of gold with a corsage of yellow tea roses, and Marjorie wore a gown of silver lame’ with a duplicate orchid from 25 years ago.

The family children of Andrew and Myrtle present for the occasion to make it a memorable affair were: Alvin, Black River Falls, Ruby Conncial, Waukesha, Marjorie Peleschak, Thorp, Wendel, Thorp, Lorraine Sitter, Neillsville, Darlene Jarocki, Withee, Florence Mahalke, Alabama, Joyce Markoutsis, Waukegan, Mary Ellen Kell, Withee, Harry, Thorp, Judy Staniec, Thorp, and Sharon Gilbert, Thorp. Those unable to attend were Arlyn, Kansasville, Bonnie Time, Duluth, and Marlene Baker from Kansas.

Alvin and Marjorie’s four children were present: jack Korn, Chippewa Falls, Kathy Anderson, Marshfield, Merry Gaye Berdal, Frederic, and Roger, Thorp.

Among the reunion of the Kubera family, were two sets of four generations, Andrew, Alvin, Roger and his son, Steven. On the female side was Myrtle, Marjorie, Peleschak, Gail Schmitt and her daughter, Deanna.

The union of Andrew and Myrtle in Thorp fifty years ago brought into this world 19 children, of which 18 were raised in the area. These 18 children produced 52 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Alvin and Marjorie had 4 children and are the proud grandparents of 7 grandchildren.

On Sunday, August 15, 1971, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Kuehl celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home in Butlerville (Clark Co., Wis.). There were 88 relatives for the noon meal. They enjoyed open house from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., with relatives, friends, and close neighbors. Over 200 attended from: Everett, Redmond, and Alderwood Manor, Washington; Riverside and San Gabriel, California; St. Paul, Hastings, Ely, Aurora, Finland, Minnesota; Mendota, Illinois; Ontario, Canada; Chippewa Falls, La Farge, Edgerton, Ripon, Cadott, Catawba, Owen, Horicon, Thorp, Norwalk, Hillsboro, Greenwood, Augusta, New Lisbon, Stanley, Prescott, Milwaukee, Marshfield, Eau Claire, Willard, Cornell, Stratford, Alma Center, Neillsville, and Racine, Wisconsin; and Babbitt, Minnesota.

The table decorations were yellow mums and gladiolas and gold candles. The corsages for Mrs. Kuehl and her bridesmaid, her sister, Sylvia, were white carnations and yellow rose buds. The boutonnieres for Hugo and children and their wives and husband were yellow roses. Many mixed flowers were presented from New Lisbon and Grandma Bivins, our 92 year young firend of Stanley, and many greetings by mail and phone.

The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Many beautiful gifts and a purse of money were presented to the Kuehls. All six of their children were present, 18 grandchildren, out of 21, were present, and all 13 great-grandchildren were present. The honored couple is very, very thankful to each and every one who helped in so many ways to make our day so special. The beautiful cake was made by a friend from Willard, and presented to us Sunday morning by Mrs. Michael Klapatauskas and husband. The three tier cake was cut and served by the Kuehl's two daughters, Esther and Ruth. Punch and ice cream were served by the daughters-in-law, , Carol and Jean.

Mr. and Mrs. George Kuehn celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with an open house on Sunday afternoon, July 19, at the Neillsville American Legion Hall. In the evening, many friends and relatives gathered at the Kuehn’s Town of Grant home for a lawn party.

George Kuehn and Fern West were united in marriage on July 22, 1931, at the home of her parents, George and Hazel (Slocomb) West, by the Rev. Paul White. The couple made their home in the Town of Grant and have remained there all their lives.

George was born in Ripon on December 30. 1906, to William and Ella Kuehn. (Ella, who is now 97, is a resident of Neillsville Memorial Home and was unable to attend her son and daughter-in-law’s celebration.)

George moved to Neillsville in November of 1925. It was here that he began farming and hauling milk. George served for a dozen years as clerk for the Cunningham School. He also held offices on the boards of the Pleasant Ridge and Neillsville United Methodist Churches.

Fern was born on July 2, 1913, in the Town of Grant. She attended Kurth School and was a 1930 graduate of Neillsville High School. She is an active member in the Pleasant Ridge Homemakers Club and the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Women. Both are active members of the Neillsville United Methodist Church.

The couple remained active in farming until this year when they gave up the daily chores of milking.

The couple have three daughters, Mrs. Darrel (Joyce) Hohenstein of Granton, Mrs. Adrian (Nancy) Hubing of Neillsville and Joan at home; and one son, George of Universal City, Texas. They are joined by thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Attending the festivities was Mrs. Hubert (Nellie Johnson) Quicker of Neillsville, who was an attendant at the Kuehn’s 1931 wedding. Also present were George’s siblings, who included Harry and Hilda Kuehn, Granton; Hazel Bruley and Elva Kuehn, both of Chippewa Falls; and William Kuehn, Simi Valley, Ca.

Joining them were Fern’s brothers and sisters, including James and Irma West, Neillsville; Beulah and Ernie Riemer, New Era, Mi.; Daisy and All Harrill, Pacoima, Ca.; Roy and Virginia West, Las Vegas, Nv.; and Rica and Joe Kernz, Marshfield.

Joining them were numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives from California, Texas, Missouri, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Nevada, plus from the Wisconsin communities of Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Oxford, Delavan, Cudahy, Chippewa Falls, Neillsville and Marshfield.

 Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Kuehn of Greenwood celebrated their golden wedding anniversary November 7, at an "open house" held at their home from 2 to 5 p.m.

Approximately 150 relatives, neighbors and friends attended. Each guest was presented with a gold leaf.  Their granddaughter Miss Jean Stephan was in charge of the guest book.  Their grandsons, Allan Hodnett and Dennis Stephan served refreshments.

Vases of pink and yellow ‘mums and gold colored candles decorated the table, which was centered by an anniversary cake, baked by the honored couple’s daughter, Mrs. Harold Hodnett, and decorated with yellow roses and topped with a miniature bride and groom and golden coins with "50 years" inscribed on it.

Mrs. Kuehn wore a corsage of yellow roses and white carnations and her husband a yellow carnation boutonniere, presented them by their nine granddaughters and three grandsons.  Rev. Orval Egbert led in prayer and gave a short sermon.  

Present for the occasion were their five children and their families; Norbert Kuehn and Mrs. John (Ivalyn) Stephan of Waldo; Harold Kuehn of Owen; Mrs. Harold (Eileen) Hodnett of Withee; and Evan Kuehn of Marshfield.

Other guests came from Kiel, Waldo, Plymouth, Kohler, Deer Park, Eau Claire, Medford, Port Edwards, Owen, Withee, Marshfield, Greenwood and surrounding area.  The honored couple was presented with many gifts, a purse of money and many congratulatory messages.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Kuehn were born in the Town of Warner, received their education here, he in the Decker School and she in the Braun Settlement School.

He was born August 31, 1893, to Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Kuehn, and has lived on the farm northwest of Greenwood all his life.  Mrs. Kuehn, the former Lena Seibold, was born March 4, 1894, to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Seibold.  They were married November 11, 1914, in the Trinity parsonage in Greenwood, by the Rev. L. A. Fischer.

The hobbies of Mr. and Mrs. Kuehn are hunting and traveling.  He also enjoys fishing and dealing in horses.  She is interested in doing fancy work.  Both are in good health. They are members of Immanuel United Church of Christ. Mrs. Kuehn is an honorary member of the Immanuel Women’s Guild.

After their marriage they resided on the present farm, which has been in the Kuehn ownership for 86 years. They retired from farming in 1958, but have remained on the farm since.

Hubert Kuehn and the former Lena Seibold were married on November 11, 1914, and have resided in Greenwood all their lives.

Grandchildren who spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kuehn were: Mr. and Mrs. Don Lee Hopple and family of Kiel and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Berth and son of Waldo. Other Sunday guests were Helmuth Siems and daughter, Helen, of Port Edwards.

Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Kuehn, lifelong residents of Greenwood, observed their 58th wedding anniversary November 11 at the Village Plaza in Spencer. Hubert Kuehn and Lena Seibold were married November 11, 1914, in Greenwood. They farmed northwest of Greenwood until they retired in 1958 and moved to the city. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1964.

Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Kuhn were entertained by their children in honor of the 65th wedding anniversary, at a dinner Sunday, November 11, in the Cedar House Restaurant, Abbotsford.

Hubert Kuehn and Lena Seibold were married November 11, 1914, in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Officiating was the Rev. L. A. Fischer. After their marriage the Kuehn’s farmed northwest of Greenwood until 1967 when they retired and moved to the city of Greenwood. Both are members of the Immanuel United Church of Christ.

They have three children and a daughter-in-law who hosted the event. The children are Mrs. John (Ivalyn) Stephan, Waldo; Mrs. Harold (Eileen) Hodnett, Withee; Harold Kuehn, Owen; and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Beverly Kuehn, and daughter, Carmella Kuehn of Marshfield. They have fourteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Two sons, deceased are Norbert Kuehn in 1967 and Evan Kuehn in 1974. And both Hubert and Lena are in good health.

The farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Kuester, who live six miles west of this city (Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis.), was the scene of a pleasant gathering of over two hundred relatives and friends, on Sunday last, April 27, 1913. The occasion is one that will long be remembered for its social and congenial spirit, that prevailed among friends and relatives that had not assembled before in many years. It was a most beautiful spring day and all things seemed to rejoice in the event of the twenty-fifty anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Kuester.

Promptly at 2:30 o’clock p.m., Mr. and Mrs. Kuester took their places in the parlor while a wedding march was played by Miss Goeke, and Rev. Otto Saewert pronounced a short ceremony in German, as well as well chosen remarks.

The bride of twenty-five years ago was dressed in a beautiful gown of black satin and wore a silver bouquet.

A delightful time was spent by all present and great gayety reigned. The guests were regaled by an abundance of things which appeal to the taste and everybody left appreciative of the generous hospitality at the Kuester home.

They were the recipients of many beautiful articles of silver, which shows the high respect they are held in by their many friends. This home is blessed with five children, four of whom are still under the parental roof, while one is the wife of Julius Dill of this city.

Mr. and Mrs. Kuester took up their home at the farm they now reside twenty-five years ago, when the country was then but a wilderness, and now have a beautiful farm home and 240 acres of the nicest land in Clark County.

Those from away in attendance were the following brothers of Mrs. Kuester: Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Reinke and two children of Plymouth, Wis., and Wm., August and Charles Reinke with their wives and children from Franklin, Wis., Mrs. John Brill and two sons from Calumet, Mich., the former being the only sister of Mrs. Kuester. Mr. and Mrs. Ludevig of Dorchester and Mrs. Greisch and son and daughter of Marshfield.

The Gleaner joins with friends in wishing Mr. and Mrs. Kuester twenty-five years more of happy marriage.

Mr. and Mrs. William Kuester celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last week.

The honored couple was married in Greenwood, May 7, 1914, by the Rev. Otto Saewert, pastor of Immanuel Reformed Church, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Goeke.

William Christie Kuester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Kuester, was born in Greenwood December 15, 1892.  He received his education in the Town of Warner School.

Mrs. Kuester, the former Emma Wilheminna Goeke, was born August 5, 1896, in Newton, and received her education there.  At the age of 13 years she came to Greenwood with her parents.

After their marriage the Kuester’s farmed west of Greenwood until 1939, when they built the Parkway club, a mile north of Greenwood, which they operated until 1959. Then they retired and moved to this city.

They have four children: Lawrence of St. Louis, Mo.; Leon Kuester and Miss Loretta Kuester of Greenwood; and Mrs. Douglas (Eldora) Luther of Junction City. They also have four grandchildren, Sandra and James Luther, and Patricia and Mary Lou Kuester.

Mr. and Mrs. Kuester are both in good health. His hobbies are fishing and hunting, and his wife enjoys sewing and bowling.

The anniversary festivities began when members of the family attended the Sunday morning worship services held in Zion United Church.  After the services the honorees and their family attended a dinner at the Parkway club.  Mrs. Kuester wore a corsage of orchids and a similar corsage was worn by her sister, Mrs. Alma Busch, who was an attendant 50 years ago. The other attendant was the late Fred Busch.

Dinner guests, each wearing a carnation with a gold leaf, were the Kuester’s children and grandchildren; Mr. Kuester’s sister, sister-in-law and brother, Mrs. Lydia Dill, and Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Kuester; and Mrs. Kuester’s sister and brother, Mrs. Alm Busch and William Goeke, all of Greenwood, and Albert Fravert, a brother-in-law.

Other relatives from away attending an open house held from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Kuester home were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Strode of Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kanter of Manitowoc; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Goeke, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hackman, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Hackman and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stockmeier, all of Newton; Mr. and Mrs. John Marx of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiersig of Colby; Mrs.  Alvina Kuester and Mrs. Norma Ebert of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar DeMert of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Arles Offord of Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Jerrold Kuester of Eau Claire; and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Boe of Spencer.

Mr. and Mrs. John Kugel of Colby, route 1, were the honored couple at a celebration in observance of their golden wedding anniversary, Sunday, Oct. 12, after a high mass at 8:00 o’clock, at St. Bernard’s Catholic church in Abbotsford, Wisconsin. The choir sang, "Mother at Your Feet We’re Kneeling" and a special blessing was given to Mr. and Mrs. Kugel and their children.

For the occasion, Mrs. Kugel wore a green suit with black accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. Mr. Kugel had a yellow rose boutonniere.

Dinner at noon was served at the home to about 50 guests and open house was held in the afternoon. The centerpiece was a beautifully decorated wedding cake. Attending the event were the couple’s five children, the nine grand children and the eight great grand children. Other relatives and friends attending were from Milwaukee, Jim Falls, Thorp, Lublin, Shawano, Clintonville, Bonduel, Marshfield, Unity, Colby, Dorchester and Abbotsford, Wisconsin. Among them was Mr. Kugel’s brother, Joe, of Clintonville, who was best man at the wedding.

Mrs. Kugel was born Josephine Smejkal, Jan. 21, 1884, in Czechoslovakia. When she was 19 years old, she came to this country with her aunt, Mrs. Josephine Soufal, and made her home with her on a farm near Shawano, where the aunt still resides. Mrs. Soufal, now 83 years old, was here for the golden anniversary observance.

Mr. Kugel was born near Shawano, April 14, 1875. They were married in Sacred Heart church, Shawano, Oct. 14, 1902. They lived on a farm near there for three years, then moved to Bear Creek, where Mr. Kugel worked in a sawmill. About 1921, they moved to a farm southwest of Withee and in 1930, came to a farm two miles east and one-half mile north. They retired in 1946 and have since made their home on the farm with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Kugel and family, two and three-fourths miles west of Abbotsford, Wisconsin.

Their children are Mrs. Fred (Mamie) Baldeschwiler of Jim Falls, James Kugel of Unity, Rudy of Colby, Ernest of Milwaukee, Mrs. Alfred (Agnes) Swoboda of Colby, Wisconsin.

Dinner at noon was served at the home to about 50 guests and open house was held in the afternoon. The centerpiece was a beautifully decorated wedding cake. Attending the event were the couple’s five children, the nine grand children and eight great grand children. Other relatives and friends attending were from Milwaukee, Jim Falls, Thorp, Lublin, Shawano, Clintonville, Bonduel, Marshfield, Unity, Colby, Dorchester, and Abbotsford. Among them was Mr. Kugel’s brother, Joe, of Clintonville, who was best man at the wedding. 
 

Mrs. Kugel was born Josephine Smejkai, Jan. 21, 1884, in Czechoslovakia. When she was 19 years old, she came to this country with her aunt, Mrs. Josephine Soufal, and made her home on a farm near Shawano, where the aunt still resides. Mrs. Soufal, now 83 years old, was here for the golden anniversary observance.
 

Mr. Kugel was born near Shawano, April 14, 1875. They were married in Sacred Heart church, Shawano, Oct. 14, 1902. They lived on a farm near there for three years, then moved to Bear Creek, where Mr. Kugel worked in a sawmill. About 1921, they moved to a farm two miles east and one-half mile south. They retired in 1946 and have since made their home on the farm with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Kugel, and family, two and three-fourths miles east of Abbotsford.
 

Their children are Mrs. Fred (Mamie) Baldeschwiler, Jim Falls; James Kugel, Unity; Rudy, Colby, Route; Ernest, Milwaukee; Mrs. Alfred (Agnes) Swoboda, Colby, Route.

Seventy relatives attended a 45th wedding anniversary dinner held Saturday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran School for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kuhl of Pine Valley.  The afternoon was spent reminiscing, and most of the relatives remained for supper. Mrs. Eric Kopp and Mrs. Norman Kuhl had charge of preparing and serving the meals.

Attending were the children and their families: Mr. and Mrs. Eric Kopp and children of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kuhl and children of Menomonee Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Spiegel of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Harland Kuhl and children of Granton.

Others attending included: the Rev. and Mrs. Norman Lindloff and children, the Rev. and Mrs. Robert W. Mr. and Mrs. John Kulas, Athens, celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary Sunday, October 11, 1974 with a dinner and supper for family members at their home.

Present were their children and families, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Kulas and son Kevin, Abbotsford, Mrs. Theodore Kulas and family and William Samon, Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Kulas and daughter, Cindy, and Mr. and Dave Kulas and family, all of Athens. Grandchildren and families present were Galen Kulas and friend of Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Albrecht and family, Athens, and Mr. and Mrs. Leander Ziebell and son Adam, Edgar. Also present were Mrs. Kulas’ sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Erickson, Dorchester.

The children of the celebrants presented them with a three tiered Golden Wedding Anniversary cake.

Unable to be present for the occasion was a daughter, Mrs. Lester (Christine) Dassow, Athens. A son, Theodore, passed away several years ago.

John Kulas and the former Rose Hiebel were married at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wuerzburg on October 14, 1924. After their marriage, they resided in the town of Johnson. Kulas was a woods worker and family. Mrs. Kulas is a homemaker, and for the past 14 years has been a nurses and at the Medford Memorial Hospital. She is still active in this capacity. They moved to the village of Athens a year ago.

On Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Kulas entertained for dinner at their home in honor of their anniversary for Mrs. Catherine Kuzenski, Mrs. Charlotte Johnson, Mrs. Sue Jurisin, Mrs. Maggie Hoff and Mrs. Marie Molitor. The ladies are all co-workers of Mrs. Kulas at the Medford Hospital.

William and Eva Kurasz, Rt. 3, Neillsville celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on August 10, 1985. The occasion was held at the Neillsville American Legion hosted by their children and grandchildren. Approximately 265 people were in attendance for the dinner, with more arriving for the evening dance.

A highlight of the celebration was a mock wedding, staged by the grandchildren of the couple.

Only one granddaughter, Doreen Meline, and her son, Joshua, of California, was unable to attend. Other family members participating were James and Margie Kurasz, sons Martin, Kim and Kelly, daughters Connie and Debbie, of Dubois, Wyoming; Dale and Rosie Kurasz, son Daye, daughter and son-in-law and Mike and Diana Peltier, Forest Lake, MN; Ed and Carol Kurasz, Neillsville, sons Mark and Ronald, daughters, Jane, Vicki, Mena, and Lori with her friend, Terry Peissic; Rosemary and Bernard Murphy, Greenwood, sons David, Larry and Alan, daughter Donna with friend, David Anding of Neillsville; Lee and Joan Kurasz, sons John and Craig, daughters Lynette and Brenda, all of Neillsville, Bill and Sue Kurasz, Dubois, Wyoming.

Also attending were the couple’s wedding attendants of fifty years ago; Mr. and Mrs. Julius Kozlowski, of Pray, Rev. Weber, of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Neillsville, blessed them all.

Sisters and brothers of Mrs. Kurasz attending the event were Ethel and Vivian Schute, of Neillsville; Dorothy Geig, Fairchild; Leone Scholze and Betty Marg, Black River Falls; Ella Jean Scholze, Rudolph; Virgil Durst, Osseo; James and Ivan Durst, Neillsville; Raymond Durst, Fairchild. Sister-in-law June Durst, Rudolph, Aunts Bernice Reshel, Titusville, Florida, and Della Lightfoot, Fairchild, also participated.

Family of Mr. Kurasz present were Victor and Betty Kurasz, Black River Falls; and sister-in-law, Esther Kurasz, Neillsville.

Married November 2, 1935, at Black River Falls, the couple has lived in the Neillsville area during their entire marriage. Farming for forty years, they still reside on the family farm.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kusek of Lublin celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 4, 1970.

Their family includes one son, Val Kusek of Chicago; 5 daughters, Mrs. Toni Pollak of Chicago, Mrs. Ted (Frances) Grzesik of Palatine, Ill., Leona Kusek of Chicago, Mrs. Frank (Celia) Siudak Sr. of Lublin, and Mrs. Al (Josephine) Kutaf, Chicago.

Mr. and Mrs. Kusek also have 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

They were married in 1905 in Chicago, and moved to Lublin (Taylor Co., Wis.) in 1913. They farmed in the Lublin area until 1941. They moved to Chciago, where Mr. Kusek was employed until 1952. They moved back to Lublin had have lived in the village sine.
