Welcome to the Cornwall Coastal Holidays app, developed by Ben Hooper for Cornwall Coastal Holidays. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

We collect minimal information through the app. Below is a summary of what the app accesses or processes:

App Version We may collect basic app version information to help ensure compatibility and support.

Map Data (Device Storage Only) The app uses OpenStreetMap to display maps. To improve performance, map tiles are cached locally on your device. A small configuration preference (named "osmdroid") is also saved on your device to manage map settings. No location data is collected — the app uses fixed, pre-set coordinates for points of interest and does not request or access your device's GPS or live location.

Guest Testimonials (Read Only) The app retrieves guest testimonials from our secure cloud database (Firebase Cloud Firestore). This is display content only — you do not submit any personal information through this feature.

Network Requests When using the app, standard network requests are made to:

• OpenStreetMap tile servers (Android) or Apple MapKit (iOS) — to load map imagery. Your IP address may be visible to these services as part of normal web traffic, in the same way as visiting any website.

• Firebase/Firestore — to load testimonial content. Network requests are handled by Google's infrastructure under their own privacy and data policies.

External Links The app contains links that open your browser or other apps (such as the Bridgwater Carnival website, social media, email, or phone). Once you leave the app, those services operate under their own privacy policies.

Analytics (Android) Our Android app includes Firebase dependencies, which may collect anonymised diagnostics or analytics data by default through Google's SDK. We do not actively use or review individual analytics data. For more information, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.

Permissions The app requests only the following device permissions:

• INTERNET — to load map tiles and testimonial content

• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to check connectivity

The app does not request access to your location, camera, contacts, or any other device data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited data the app accesses solely to provide and improve your experience with the app. Specifically:

• Map Configuration: Settings saved on your device are used only to ensure the map displays correctly and efficiently during your use of the app.

• Testimonial Content: Data retrieved from our cloud database is used purely to display guest testimonials within the app. This is a one-way read — no personal information is submitted or stored as part of this process.

• Network Connectivity: Information about your network state is used only to determine whether the app can load maps and content. It is not stored or transmitted.

• Analytics (Android): Anonymised diagnostics data that may be collected by Google's Firebase SDK is used solely for app performance and stability purposes. We do not use this to identify individual users.

• We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes, and we do not use any data collected to build user profiles.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share your personal information with third parties, except as required to operate core app functionality or to comply with legal obligations.

As outlined in Section 2, the app interacts with the following third-party services as part of its normal operation:

• Google Firebase/Firestore — for loading testimonial content

• OpenStreetMap (Android) / Apple MapKit (iOS) — for map tile loading

These services operate under their own privacy policies and may process limited technical data (such as IP addresses) as part of standard network requests. We do not control how these third parties handle such data.

5. Data Storage and Security

We take appropriate steps to protect your information:

• Map configuration and cached tile data are stored locally on your device only, managed by the osmdroid library (Android). This data is limited to map display settings and imagery and does not contain any personal information.

• No account or login data is stored by the app. There is no user profile, registration, or authentication system.

• Testimonial content is retrieved from Firebase Cloud Firestore, which is secured and managed by Google under their own security standards.

• We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our own servers.

For data processed by third-party services such as Google Firebase and OpenStreetMap, security is governed by their respective policies and infrastructure.

6. User Rights and Choices

Since the app does not collect or store personal information on our servers, there is no personal data for us to retrieve, amend, or delete on your behalf.

However, you do have the following choices:

• Map cache: Cached map tiles stored locally on your device can be cleared at any time through your device's app storage settings.

• Network access: You can restrict the app's internet access through your device settings, though this will prevent map tiles and testimonial content from loading.

• External links: Any links that open your browser or other apps are entirely at your discretion. You are not required to follow them to use the core features of the app.

• Analytics (Android): If you have concerns about Firebase analytics data collection, you can review and manage this through your device's Google settings.

7. Third-Party Services

Our app uses the following third-party services:

• Apple MapKit (iOS): Used to display map imagery and property pin locations. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

• OpenStreetMap (Android): Used to display map imagery and property locations. Map tiles are requested from OpenStreetMap tile servers, which may process your IP address as part of standard network requests. Governed by the OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy.

• Google Firebase / Firestore: Used to retrieve and display guest testimonials within the app. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not control how these third-party services handle data processed through their infrastructure and recommend reviewing their respective privacy policies for more information.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Cornwall Coastal Holidays app is intended primarily for adults and young adults planning or researching a coastal holiday. The app is an informational guide showcasing our Porthtowan apartments, guest testimonials, and local area details.

We do not collect, store, or share any personally identifiable information through the app. As the app is designed for an adult audience, we do not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13.
