Cape Cod Food Safety offers ongoing classes and testing for the ServSafe® Food Safety Protection Manager Certification on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This is a full one-day certified ServSafe® instructor-led class which includes option of paper or on-line testing the same day. Please see FAQs below. The ServSafe® program provides food safety training and exams to foodservice managers. Students can earn the ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification, accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP) by successfully completing this training and testing requirements by Cape Cod Food Safety.
The program blends the latest FDA and Massachusetts State Food Code, food safety practices and years of food sanitation training experience. Managers learn to implement food safety practices and create awareness for food safety. All content and materials are based on actual job tasks identified by foodservice industry experts.

Classroom training is conducted by our ServSafe® certified instructor., Amber Hempstead, CDM, CFPP. Training consists of videos, presentation and interactive question answer session. Duration of the training is approximately 6.5 hours.
Amber Hempstead, founder of Cape Cod Food Safety, is a culinary director in Chatham, and has over 15 years experience working at the finest establishments on Cape Cod. She studied culinary & food safety at the Le Cordon Bleu in Los Angeles, continued her education internationally, and has been a certified ServSafe® instructor since 2018. Yes… our course pre-registration offer “pay cash at the door” or "mail-in check payment" options with the following restrictions:
"Pay at the Door" option: only cash payment accepted, and we ask that you bring the “exact amount”.
"Mail-in Check Payment": Checks are accepted on a case by case basis, and must be received 14 days before date of class. E-mail inquiries to: CapeCodFoodSafety@gmail.com for information.
Please be aware that as course seat availability is limited, simply completing Step 1 - Pre-Registration without Step 2 - On-line Payment, will NOT guarantee a spot for the class. So if your availability for class date is not flexible, we recommend you confirm your seat by completing registration via our link for PayPal on-line payment with a major credit card.
Online exam are done on a computer/laptop. With online exam you get your result and certificate instantly.
You cannot take Food Protection Manager exam at home. A registered proctor needs to be present to administer the exam. You will have to come to our location for the exam.

If you can not make it to the chosen date and time for the classroom training or exam, you can reschedule them. There is no rescheduling fee within 90 days of original class date. All reschedule requests after 90 days of the original class or exam dates are subject to a reschedule fee of $75.00 to $125.00. In case of weather emergencies or if we cancel the class, no fees will be charged.
Unfortunately no, as all sales are final after the 3 day cancellation period. However you can reschedule the exam or training session if one is available. There are no rescheduling fees up to 90 days. All reschedule requests after 90 days of the original class or exam dates are subject to a reschedule fee of $75.00 to $125.00.
Yes we do. Group discounts are available for groups of 6 and above. Please contact us for more information.
A passing score is 75% or higher. This is obtained by answering at least 60 out of 80 questions correctly. The exam has 90 multiple choice questions; however there are 10 pilot questions that are for research purposes only. The time limit for the test is 2 hours but the average tester finishes in a little over an hour.
If you fail the exam on your first attempt, you can retake the exam immediately. Retake fee is $75.00. If you fail on your second attempt within 30 days, you will need to wait for 2 months (60 days) before you can retake the exam. No more than four attempts are allowed within a 12 month period.
