Character Descriptions

Fr. Peter, late 20s to early 30s, male, lead role, *must be comfortable with reciting Latin*: doubting priest, 7 years ordained, determined to find all the answers. He’s well-intentioned, but is a realistic pessimist and tends to brood over his difficulties. Makes an effort to appear pious, but constantly struggles interiorly.

Margred, early 20s, female, supporting role: sister and housekeeper of Fr. Peter, always found smiling and with a witty word. The one with the brains of the two siblings. Her playfulness and teasing is tempered by her maturity and simple faith.

Giovanni (Gio), teenager, male, supporting role: peasant boy who always wants to please those he cares about. Doesn’t give much deep thought to anything in life, but when he does he usually comes up with something profound. A mama’s boy.

Felice, mid 20s, female, supporting role: mother to Imilia, constantly feels harried. She’s a bit unsure of herself, but loves her daughter very much and does her best to raise her right.

Imilia, 6-10, female, supporting role: daughter to Felice, constantly expressing herself through humming and dancing, very outspoken. Possesses a childlike faith and wiser than you think she’d be.

Gemma, 14-20, female, supporting role: a dramatic young woman who is practical and pragmatic. Afraid of the unknown, but hides it with feigned indifference.

Chiara, 13-20, female, supporting role: an amicable young woman quick to kindness and optimism. Empathetic and patient.

Pope Urban IV, 50s or older, male, supporting role, *must be comfortable with reciting Latin*: a wise leader. Contemplative and cordial.
