NSWCPS AND NSWCCC CROSS COUNTRY
RULES & GUIDELINES
ENTRIES
Entry is on a Diocesan/Association basis only. Each Diocese/Association may enter a maximum of eight (8) athletes (primary) and 6 athletes (secondary) in each standard event per team. (Appendix 1)
Additional competitors will only be permitted under exceptional circumstances at the Manager’s and relevant sports council’s discretion made 2 weeks prior to the championship.
Each Diocese/Association may enter a maximum of three (3) athletes in each Multi Class event.
AGE
COMPETITORS MUST COMPETE IN THEIR OWN AGE GROUP i.e. the age they turn in this calendar year.
COMPETITOR NUMBERS
Competitors must have their ATHLETE number clearly displayed on the front of the team shirt/singlet.
ATHLETES IN A MULTICLASS EVENT
Refer to the Multi Class Events Information Tab.
RACING
Any competing athlete who jostles or obstructs another athlete, so as to impede his/her progress, shall be liable to disqualification from the event.
No competitor is to receive assistance or refreshments during the race.
Pacing in races by persons not participating in the same race may result in the athlete being disqualified from the event.
Technology devices should not be used by any athlete. Any device able to transmit and receive information should not be worn.
Due to safety concerns from a pack start and the surface of sections of the course, spikes are not to be worn by any competitor.
Multisport will be responsible for the placing of athletes in each race using the technology available. Timing bibs will determine places except in the case of close finishes where Photo finish will be used to determine the final places.
PROTESTS
Protests must be lodged in writing to the Course manager by the Team Manager within 10 minutes of the conclusion of the event. Any discrepancies in the displayed results must be lodged with the Course Manager by the Team Manager within 10 minutes of the results being announced / displayed.
The Course Manager will refer the matter to the Championship committee.
The Championship committee will include,the Primary Convenor, Secondary Convenor(s) and/or the Event Coordinator.
SPECTATORS & COACHES
Spectators may view the events along the course but must remain on the Eastern side of the pink spectator line as indicated on the spectator map.
Spectators must not cross the course at any time.
Any exclusion zones marked on the map, by tape, signage or advised by officials must be adhered to.
Spectators must not interfere with any competitors or officials during events.
Spectators must not ‘pace’ or run alongside any competitors during an event.
Interference by a spectator may lead to disqualification of a competitor.
Officials at checkpoints will monitor this throughout the day.
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
Medals will be presented to the first three (3) placegetters in each event.
Primary - Certificates of participation will be emailed to each PRIMARY competitor.
TEAM AWARD
The highest placed team shall receive gold medals in each mainstream event. The members of the winning team only in each event will receive medals. The lowest cumulative times generated from the placings of the first four (4) runners will determine each Region/Diocesan/Association team placing. Where less than four (4) runners finish, the team is not eligible for the medal. Ties will be split by the team’s first runner’s finishing position. 8 Primary medals will be presented, 6 Secondary medals will be presented.
SELECTION FOR MACKILLOP, POLDING and NSWCCC TEAMS
SECONDARY - the first 10 places in mainstream events and the first 3 places in Multi Class events will progress to the NSW All Schools Championships.
PRIMARY - the first 6 places in mainstream events and the first 3 places in the multi class events will progress to the NSWPSSA Championships
SELECTIONS FOR SCHOOL SPORT AUSTRALIA CHAMPIONSHIPS
SECONDARY students cannot compete at the School Sport Australia Cross Country Championships if they turn 20 years or older in the year of competition.
SECONDARY Male and Female Teams are selected to compete at the ASSC/AA Championships as follows:-
12/13 years up to the fastest 7 times from the 12 and 13 years age divisions
14/15 years up to the fastest 8 times from the 14 and 15 years age divisions
16/17 years up to the fastest 8 times from the 16 and 17 years age divisions
18/19 years up to the fastest 7 times from the 18+ years age division
From the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships, a NSW All Schools Cross Country Team will be selected. To be eligible for selection a competitor must compete at this event.
An athlete who does not compete at NSW All Schools Championships may only be included in the team if he/she is competing at a National or International Track and Field/Cross Country/Triathlon/Mountain Running as part of a recognised ANSW or AA Team at the time of selection and has given prior notice to the Selection Panel requesting consideration. This notification must be made to the CSNSW prior to the NSWCCC Selections.
Additional competitors will not be permitted.
