If you want deep bass wireless headphones for audiophiles with customizable sound tuning and studio-grade detail, choose CCA KZ AS24; if you need voice assistant on ear headphones for audiophiles that offer superior isolation and a comfortable over-ear fit for long mixing sessions, choose Audio-Technica ATH-M20x. This is not a close call between two identical options; these are fundamentally different tools designed for distinct approaches to listening. One is a precision instrument built for the enthusiast who wants to sculpt their audio signature down to the individual frequency band, while the other is a reliable workhorse designed for professional monitoring where consistency and isolation matter most.
• CCA KZ AS24: Its biggest strength is the ability to tailor the sound profile with eight-level switches across dual tuners, offering unprecedented customization for bass, mids, and treble. The trade-off is its in-ear form factor and lack of active noise cancellation, which requires a snug seal for optimal performance. This pick is for the audiophile who treats their ears like a lab bench and wants to engineer their own perfect sound.
• Audio-Technica ATH-M20x: Its biggest strength is the closed-back design that provides excellent passive isolation and a comfortable, lightweight over-ear experience ideal for hours of focused listening. The trade-off is a fixed sound signature with no user-adjustable tuning and a lack of wireless connectivity. This pick is for the producer or DJ who needs a neutral, reliable reference tool that blocks out the world without distraction.
The CCA KZ AS24 is engineered for the listener who refuses to accept a one-size-fits-all audio experience. At its core, this is an in-ear monitor that prioritizes granular control over the sonic output. The defining feature here is the system of 8 tuning switches. You aren't just buying headphones; you are buying a platform where you can adjust bass, mids, treble, and ultra-high frequencies using four levels on each of two separate tuners. This level of customization is rare even in high-end gear. If you are a musician, a singer, or an audio engineer who needs to hear specific elements of a mix more clearly, or perhaps someone who craves booming bass for hip-hop but needs crisp highs for classical, this device lets you dial it in exactly how you want it.
The hardware supports this customizability with serious engineering. Inside the housing, there are 12 balanced armature drivers per side. These drivers are known for their speed and precision, delivering crystal-clear highs and rich mids that many dynamic driver headphones struggle to match in the same price bracket. To ensure these drivers perform without distortion, the acoustic chamber is created using DLP 3D printing technology. This high-precision method optimizes airflow within the nozzle, ensuring that every note stays true to the artist's intent rather than getting muddied by internal resonance. For the audiophile who values clarity and separation above all else, this construction is a significant draw.

Comfort and durability are also key considerations for anyone spending hours with these earbuds. The design is based on real-ear data to ensure a snug fit that doesn't cause fatigue during long gaming or music sessions. They come with a silver-plated OFC cable that reduces signal interference, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity of those delicate high-frequency details. The connectors are reinforced with anti-breakage limit slots, addressing a common failure point in wired in-ear monitors. However, you must be aware of the form factor. These are in-ear devices. They require an in-ear seal to function correctly, which means they will not be suitable for everyone, especially those who prefer the open feeling of over-ear headphones. There is no active noise cancellation mentioned in the specs, so your isolation depends entirely on how well the tips fit your ear canal. If you prioritize the ability to change your sound signature and want a compact, detailed listening experience, this is a powerful tool. If you hate having something inside your ear, you should skip it immediately.
The Audio-Technica ATH-M20x occupies a different space entirely. This is a traditional, over-ear, closed-back headphone designed for professionals and enthusiasts who need a consistent, reliable listening environment. The primary use case here is focused monitoring. Whether you are mixing tracks in a home studio, practicing DJing, or simply trying to block out a noisy office to focus on a podcast, the closed-back dynamic design provides excellent sound isolation. This isn't about changing the sound; it is about keeping the sound contained and keeping external distractions at bay. The 40mm neodymium drivers deliver a broad frequency response from 15 Hz to 20,000 Hz, which covers the full spectrum of human hearing without needing any manual adjustment.
What stands out most about the M20x is its approach to comfort and build quality. Weighing in at just 6.7 oz (190g), these headphones are remarkably light for their size, making them suitable for extended wear during critical listening sessions or long production marathons. The earpieces are over-ear style, which distributes pressure around the head rather than inside the ear canal, a preference for many users who find in-ear monitors uncomfortable after an hour or so. The build includes a copper-clad aluminum wire voice coil, a robust component that contributes to durability and sound fidelity. The cable is a sturdy 9.8 feet (3 meters) straight line, allowing plenty of room to move around a desk or studio without tangling or pulling.
This product is bundled with a desktop stand, which speaks to its intended use as a stationary piece of equipment. While it is portable enough to transport for gigs due to its compact folding design, it shines when set up on a desk. The connectivity is straightforward, featuring both 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm jacks, ensuring compatibility with almost any mixer, interface, or phone. However, the trade-off is rigidity. The sound signature is fixed. You cannot tweak the bass or treble to suit your personal mood. It is what it is, and that is often exactly what a professional needs—a predictable reference point that doesn't change day-to-day. If you are looking for a "set it and forget it" solution that offers great isolation and comfort for long periods, this is a strong contender. But if you need wireless freedom or the ability to customize your EQ on the fly, this wired, static device might feel limiting.

For the audiophile seeking deep bass wireless headphones for audiophiles with the power to shape their own audio landscape, I recommend the CCA KZ AS24. The inclusion of 8 tuning switches and 12 balanced armature drivers transforms this from a simple pair of earphones into a sophisticated tool. It acknowledges that our ears and musical tastes are unique, and it gives you the hardware to bridge that gap. The DLP 3D-printed chamber and silver-plated cable further support a listening experience that feels tailored and precise.
However, if your priority is a stable, isolated environment for mixing or DJing, the Audio-Technica ATH-M20x remains the superior choice. Its closed-back design and comfortable over-ear fit create a sanctuary of sound that is hard to beat for focused work. Ultimately, if you value the ability to engineer your sound and don't mind the in-ear form factor, the CCA KZ AS24 is the more exciting and versatile investment for a true audio enthusiast.
No, neither the CCA KZ AS24 nor the Audio-Technica ATH-M20x supports wireless technology. Both models rely on wired connections via a 3.5 mm jack, ensuring a lossless transmission of audio signals without battery dependency.
The Audio-Technica ATH-M20x generally provides better passive isolation due to its closed-back, over-ear design which creates a physical barrier against outside noise. The CCA KZ AS24 relies on an in-ear seal, which can isolate sound effectively but may let in more ambient noise depending on the tip fit.
No, the Audio-Technica ATH-M20x has a fixed sound signature determined by its 40mm dynamic drivers. In contrast, the CCA KZ AS24 features 8-level switches that allow you to manually adjust bass, mids, and treble to alter the sound profile.
Yes, the detailed 12-driver setup and customizable tuning make the CCA KZ AS24 excellent for gaming, as you can boost specific frequencies to hear footsteps or directional cues more clearly. The Audio-Technica ATH-M20x is also capable but lacks the same level of fine-tuning for competitive advantages.
