First, check Down Detector for Teams. This site can show if there is a spike in local Teams issues in your area. If there is a spike, it is a likely a widespread issue that only Teams can resolve. Notify your professor right away and send a screenshot or photo of the Down Detector report to show why you are unable to attend the Teams meeting.
Check Down Detector for your internet provider. If your internet is down, you will not be able to enter the Teams meeting. Take a screenshot or photo of the report and email it to your professor to explain why you were unable to attend.
Contact your professor. If the class has already started, your professor may be unable to assist you. It is a good safeguard practice to buddy up with someone in your class -- and if you have problems -- you can reach out to a classmate to help you get into Teams or let the professor know why you can't get in.
Lastly, contact the Center for Digital Instruction (CDI). If your professor or classmate is unable to assist you, there are no outages in your area and these troubleshooting guidelines are not solving your problem - CDI may be able to help: cdi@cbu.edu; (901) 321-4004
