Janet is the manager and research associate at the University of RI Genomics and Sequencing Center. The facility works on providing genetic sequencing for labs on campus as well as the general science community.
Genetic sequencing is important because it allows scientists to perform experiments on DNA. It's also important because knowing the sequences of certain genes allows for identification of mutations, deletions, insertions just to name a few.
Undergraduates are not able to work in this lab.
