Scholarships are provided by the Choir Booster Club and are made possible by Booster Club Members and Fund Raising activities.

How To Apply

Your Director will provide application forms and due date information, typically in Mid-April.

Scholarships

        • The total annual scholarship amount awarded can vary from year to year and is dependent upon the financial reserves of the Booster Club. The maximum amount to be awarded will be recommended by the Booster Club Officers and will be approved at a Booster Club Meeting.
        • The number of scholarships awarded will depend upon the number of applications submitted, the quality of the applications, and the funding available.
        • The Selection Committee, in consultation with the Booster Club Officers, will have the authority to determine the number of scholarships awarded and the amounts for each.
        • Scholarship funds are sent directly to the College/University Bursar's Office.

Senior Merit Scholarships

        • Eligibility Criteria
            • Must be a Senior from any CBHS Choir.
            • Must be attending College/University in the fall.
            • Can be pursuing ANY area of study - a Music Major is NOT required.
            • Must have been in choir at least for a minimum of three (3) years.
            • Parents/Guardians must be a current member of the Booster Club.
        • Evaluation Criteria
            • Application submitted as per the instructions.
            • One-page Essay - as per the instructions.
            • Extracurricular/Advanced Choral Work, such as:
                • TMEA District/Region/Pre-Area/Area - auditions
                • TMEA District/Region Choir - performance
                • TMEA All-State Choir - performance
                • UIL Solo and Ensemble Region - auditions
                • UIL Solo and Ensemble State - auditions
                • Pop Show - solo or ensemble performance
                • Company B
                • Choir competitions, workshops and trips.
          • Extracurricular Participation, such as: (Opportunities will likely change from year to year - keep track of your Journey!)
              • Homecoming Parade
              • Lock-Ins
              • Christmas Carols
              • Brook's Next Singing Sensation (perform or support)
              • Fundraisers
              • Banquet
              • Choir parties and events
          • Service as a Choir Officer
          • Cumulative GPA
          • Class Rank
          • Potential additional criteria as determined by the Booster Club Officers.

The Choral Excellence Scholarship in Memory of Katie Kirby

        • The Katie Kirby Memorial Scholarship was established in 2017, in honor of former choir student Katherine "Katie" Kirby. Katie graduated from Clear Brook High School in 2015 and passed away on November 6, 2016, while she was continuing her education at Abilene Christian University, majoring in elementary education.
        • Katie was an exemplary choir student -- she was extremely talented and dedicated, and she participated in all events and competitions all four years. She served as a Student Officer, and her parents were active Booster Club members.


        • The Scholarship Selection Committee, in consultation with the Booster Club Officers and the Director, will have the authority to award this scholarship.
        • This scholarship was initiated with the knowledge that it may be awarded only infrequently, with stringent eligibility criteria to recognize truly exceptional students.
        • The Choral Excellence Scholarship in Memory of Katie Kirby awardee is not eligible to additionally receive a Senior Merit Scholarship.
        • A maximum of one Choral Excellence Scholarship in Memory of Katie Kirby awardee will be selected in any given year.


        • Eligibility/Evaluation Criteria (in addition to the above)
            • Must have been in Choir all four (4) years.
            • Parents/Guardians must have been a member of the Booster Club all four (4) years.
            • Must have performed in a TMEA Region Honor Choir all four (4) years.
            • Must have participated in Choir Activities all four (4) years.
            • Must have served as a Choir Officer a minimum of two (2) years.
            • Has the applicant:
                • Exhibited Leadership
                • Led by Example
                • Worked to develop an inclusive culture across all choirs
                • Demonstrated exceptional service and commitment to the choirs
