Storage Hack
How does it work?
Unblock websites by limiting device storage to prevent restriction software from running.
Note: This method might not work on the latest version of Chrome OS. If it does not work for you, try factory reset or downgrade Chrome OS first.
Limitations
This method is ideally designed for Chromebook to bypass the restrictions of browser extensions, and so might not work in the following cases:
The website is blocked by your network instead of a browser extension.
Your administrator has disabled the file manager app on your Chromebook.
Note: This also works on Windows or Linux devices, but steps might vary.
Steps
On your Chromebook open a new tab, type `chrome://flags` in the address bar and press enter. You should see a popup window opening.
Find flag 'extensions menu access control' and change the mode to 'enabled'. Use the search bar at the top if you cannot find the flag.
As soon as you changed the flag, you should see a 'restart' button at the bottom. Click it to apply the changes.
Once your device restarted, use the hashed file generator attached below to generate and download random named files.
Note: Due to Chrome's memory limit, you cannot generate any files larger than 1GB. However you can extract a ZIP bomb to get larger files and fill your disk faster if your disk has a quite high capacity.
Keep generating/extracting files until a message saying space is full appears.
Open the settings app and go to storage management to see the amount of storage available. You may notice there's still 512MB of empty space on your disk but you can no longer copy files in the file manager, this is likely due to the self-protection mechanism of your device. However, you should still be able to download files with the file generator. Keep downloading files (or reduce size if download fails) until available storage is less than 4KB.
Reboot your device. Open storage management in settings again after reboot and you should see some storage being freed. This is because Chrome OS automatically cleans caches and temporary files when storage is full. In this case, just keep repeating the previous step and rebooting your device until you see a message saying 'profile corrupted' just after login.
Now you might notice that the settings app no longer opens and most non-essential apps have been automatically removed. This means you have successfully hacked your Chromebook, and all websites blocked by an extension should become unblocked.
