Attendance is vital to a student’s academic success. The Glynn County Schools' Attendance Policy outlines specific guidelines for absence documentation, attendance notifications, and attendance review panels. The Glynn County Schools' Attendance Policy is located on the school and system websites. A summary of guidelines for parents/guardians follows.
- Parents/Guardians should provide excuses to the homeroom teacher or office upon the student’s return to school. Submit hand-written excuses to the office or email excuses to greerattendance@glynn.k12.ga.us.
- The school will send attendance letters home to communicate accumulated absences and to inform parents/guardians of attendance expectations and procedures.
- The school will convene an Attendance Review Panel at certain absence benchmarks and may include the resources available from teachers, school administration, counselor, nurse, and social worker.
- School hours are 8:00 AM—2:30 PM, and students are expected to be in class. Students arriving after 8:00 AM are considered tardy, while students leaving before 2:30 PM are considered to have an early dismissal. Such occurrences are noted and will reflect upon a student’s attendance record.
- In an early dismissal, students are only released to individuals with permission to check out the student. Parents/guardians must ensure that the authorized pick up list includes individuals with permission. Additions or deletions to this list must be made in person. Identification is required to check out a student.
