Previous ARC & Commission Actions:
05/05/21: Commission granted conceptual approval with the details to be worked out at the Staff level. The penthouse addition will return to the Architectural Review Committee for further review per their request. Please submit revised drawings so that this proposal can be placed on a subsequent ARC agenda. A copy of upcoming meeting dates with submittal deadlines has been enclosed.
04/20/21: ARC recommended conceptual approval of the renovation of the existing building with the final details to be worked out at the Staff level. The ARC expressed concerns about the windowless fourth floor rooms. They also wanted to see additional details showing how the fourth floor interacts with the window sashes on the rear elevation.
The ARC agreed they would want to see more design intent in the penthouse rather than a plain stucco box, if the SHPO is supportive. They also felt that the railings should be shown in the 3D renderings as they will affect the overall massing of the addition. If there will be overhangs over the doors, the penthouse setback needs to be measured from the face of the overhangs.
