04/03/24: Commission voted to grant conceptual approval with the details to be worked out at the staff level.
03/19/24: The ARC recommended conceptual approval with the details to be worked out at the staff level. The ARC stated that the penthouse should have a flat roof. This could be achieved in several ways including adding a parapet or lowering the pitch of the current proposal, as long as the penthouse stays under the sightline views. The ARC recommended adding awnings to the double doors at the St. Joseph St side of the penthouse.
02/20/24: The ARC voted to defer this application for additional review. The ARC preferred Option 1 but stated that the penthouse addition should be moved further in from St. Joseph St to meet the Guidelines. The penthouse addition should also be reduced in height to further obscure visibility. The ARC stated that the proposed change to the parapet height was not appropriate, and a guardrail should be installed instead. The awnings at the front façade are not necessary and should be removed from the proposal, however, security for the recessed entry should be explored. The ARC requested further detailing of the replacement doors at the St. Joseph St side.
