Proverbs 7
1 My son, keep my words
and treasure up my commandments with you;
2 keep my commandments and live;
keep my teaching as the apple of your eye;
3 bind them on your fingers;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
What is Bible Quizzing?
Bible Quizzing is a nation-wide competitive activity designed to motivate children and youth to memorize God's Word. Quizzers memorize a whole book of the Bible (or multiple, if the books are short) throughout the year and compete to answer questions taken directly from the study material. Why? To bind Scripture into the minds and hearts of all participants, and make it fun. Our hope and prayer is to see visible evidence of the application of God's Word in the lifestyle of each participant.
Memorizing Scripture allows God to speak to our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
Requires self-discipline
Builds character
Brings us into fellowship with others on the same journey
Equips us with the Truth to face life's struggles
Grows us in faith and love and wisdom
Key Features
1. High to medium commitment: For the chosen book of the year, Juniors (3-6th grade) memorize 3-4 verses a day; Seniors (6-12th grade) memorize 7-9.
Quizzers are expected to attend every practice (once a week on Fridays 4:30-5:30pm or Sundays 1:30-2:30pm) and five quiz meets throughout the year.
2. Safe, Fun Competition: Teams of 3-5 quizzers compete to answer questions based on the Bibles portion they memorized. One mentoring coach is assigned to each team.
Monthly quiz meets and tournaments are characterized by lots of fellowship, service and leadership, lessons in team unity, and of course—fun!
3. Discipleship: Parents/Adult volunteers are encouraged to mentor quizzers and provide insight into the Scriptures that they are memorizing.
Youths grow in God’s Word; they develop leadership skills as team captains and worship team volunteers; they learn to treasure God’s Word.
