How do we make decisions on where and when we move?

My research investigates the circuits and mechanisms that allow animals to integrate, weigh and analyze sensory information from the environment to perform goal-oriented motor behaviors. My experimental approach, involves the use of a wide array of multi-disciplinary techniques including pathway-specific optogenetics, in vivo and ex vivo electrophysiological recordings, and pharmacological, and behavioral techniques.
