Laboratory of Physical Chemistry
Department of Chemistry, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH)
The Laboratory of Physical Chemistry at AUTH combines a long-standing tradition in electrochemistry with cutting-edge research in energy technologies. Since the 1970s, it has advanced knowledge in areas such as electrocatalysis, photoelectrochemistry, electrodeposition, and electroanalysis, while more recent work focuses on fuel cells, batteries, and solar cells.
Research activities employ a wide range of electrochemical techniques (voltammetry, amperometry, potentiometry, impedance spectroscopy) and integrate materials characterization methods (SEM/EDS, AFM, XPS, AES, XRD, SECM) to establish structure–property relationships.
Through its teaching, research, and collaborations, the Laboratory continues to play a pivotal role in advancing innovative solutions for energy and materials science.
