Puella Mariae

The Puella Mariae Medal is a recognition that the Archdiocese of Chicago awards to youth for advancement in religious knowledge and spiritual formation. The Latin name means "Child of Mary." The Puella Mariae program is designed for us to share discussion and devote our time to Mary.

The Puella Mariae program is designed for 4-5th grade girls to share discussions about and devotions to Mary. They have to read about the life of Mary and discuss what kind of a person she must have been. The girls learn about the many Feast Days of Mary, including when each feast day occurs and why the church celebrates it. The girls learn how to pray the Rosary and follow the mysteries of the rosary and learning to pray the Memorare helped to bring the girls closer to Mary.
