To plan its future, the Church of Philadelphia is working with the Steier Group, a national Catholic fundraising firm, to conduct a campaign planning study. What is a Missionary Hub? 

The Catholic Church of Philadelphia is launching Missionary Hubs across each of our five local counties. These hubs are designed to create a supportive network for missionary life, connection, and support, renewing parishes, schools, and communities, and engaging people across every stage of their faith journey. Five pilot hubs have already launched, and we plan to plant 50 Missionary Hubs over the next 10 years. IN CATHOLIC SCHOOL CLASSROOMS AND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAMS, nearly 80,000 students and their families encounter the Catholic Church – which often marks their first introduction to Jesus. To deepen this education mission and work to connect it to parish life, we intend to add full-time missionaries to work in our grade- and high schools to strengthen Catholic identity, help students and families become missionary disciples, and guide them toward a deeper encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist. We will also add dedicated development directors to schools without full-time staff in this role and support existing directors with enhanced training and resources to ensure financial sustainability and foster mission-driven stewardship. These leaders will secure vital funding sources, including Educational Improvement Tax Credits and other tuition assistance programs, to make Catholic education accessible to more families. Our priests are the hands and heart of Christ, accompanying us from baptism to our final blessing.  Our church needs men of deep faith who embody the Gospel’s call to compassion, courage, and joy. To support them, we will invest in funding to strengthen: Seminary Formation – through scholarships and pastoral placements to prepare priests for service in parishes and Missionary Hubs across the Archdiocese of Philadelphia; Active Priests – through improved resources for their physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing, including sabbaticals, continuing education, and assistance to sustain their ministry and vocation; Parish Life Directors – by training dedicated leaders of faith, character, and administrative ability who will be appointed as needed to manage operational duties, easing the burden on our priests and freeing them from overseeing multiple parishes; and Retired Priests – providing dignified care for those who have given their lives to Christ’s service and now deserve a restful and supportive retirement.
