Alongside my doctoral research, I held an assistantship as a Learning Design Assistant at BC's Center for Digital Innovation in Learning (CDIL) from Summer 2019 through Spring 2023 and have been designing my own literature courses on writing and literature since then. I helped to build online graduate courses for BC using Canvas Design Tools and an ever-changing variety of other software, most recently including Figma and H5P. Throughout the course development cycle, I worked with CDIL's instructional designers to intentionally consider the inclusion and presentation of course material from the standpoints of both pedagogy and design. I viewed my work as an LDA as an important complement to my graduate work; I applied the principles of clear student-centered design and accessibility to my own course sites and in-class pedagogy.
