Notable songs on the program are: "Laudamus te," from Mozart's Mass in C minor, "Das Himmlische Leben," by Mahler - which you may recognize from his 4th Symphony - and some rarely performed sacred songs by contemporary composer Gary Bachlund.

Artist Biographies
Christine Debus, piano, was born in Bergerac, France and studied at the Conservatoire de Musique de Bordeaux. She was on the faculty of the Conservatoire as a piano collaborator for 7 years prior to moving to the Washington DC area where she had a busy piano studio and free-lanced.
Mrs. Debus moved to San Antonio in 1995 and joined the faculty of UTSA. She worked there for 26 years as a piano collaborator and Accompanying Class professor. She now plays for the Voice studio of Dr. Catherine Nix at St Philip’s College, and for the instrumental area and Opera Workshop Class at Trinity University.
Rita Linard, flute, is Professor of Music Emeritus at the University of Texas at San Antonio where she taught flute and flute choir, coordinated the Wind and Percussion Area, and received the President’s Distinguished Achievement Award for Performance. She has taught at Texas State, St. Mary’s, and Texas Lutheran Universities, as well as Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan. Her many performances have been broadcast on Michigan Public radio and (in person) at National Flute Association conventions.
Dr. Linard is currently principal flute of the Mid-Texas Symphony and frequently plays with the San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Victoria symphonies. Dr. Linard’s love of teaching has continued through her private flute studio and masterclasses in the San Antonio area.
Catherine Nix, Soprano, continues to delight audiences across the country with her vocal versatility and creative recital programming. In addition to fulfilling her schedule of performance engagements, Dr. Nix serves on the voice faculty of both St. Philip’s College and San Antonio College, as well as The Musical Arts Center of San Antonio (MACSA). She enjoys sharing her love of vocal literature, diction and pedagogy with her students and finds their creativity a catalyst for renewed energy in her own performing. Dr. Nix has worked with church musicians across the country, and she specializes in the ministry of the Catholic cantor.
