Since I arrived at West Shore, I was always allured by the theatre department. Theatre and creative arts are things I'm passionate about, but having been in 7th grade at the time, I was scared off by the prospect of an intimidating teacher and being surrounded by older kids. Then, the Coronavirus pandemic hit, and the theatre program was forced to come to a complete halt for an entire year.
When we returned to a sense of normalcy during the 2021-2022 school year- my 9th grade year -the theatre program resumed, with many new changes to the troupe including dozens of new members and a new teacher. In a year full of many difficulties in the process of recovering from such a major event, I made it a habit to go and watch every single show that the troupe put on that year, and I immediately fell in love.
From the 2022-2023 school year all the way through to my graduation, I avidly participated as a member of the Troupe 6034's Tech Crew. Despite the low-budget nature of our productions, I am incredibly proud of the team's work on every show. The troupe has become like a family to me, and I have made countless valuable connections there that I would not trade for the world. It is, undoubtedly, one of the highlights of my time at West Shore and my teenage years as a whole.
These are some images of shows for which I contributed to prop and set construction during my time in Tech. My work in the troupe is not only limited to working on sets, and I contributed to other aspects of shows such as running crew, controlling spotlights, and sound management.
