Overseas Summer School
The Overseas Summer School (OSS) programme at SUSS is a month-long exchange programme that provides students with enriching learning opportunities by studying overseas. Students can earn credits towards their degree programme by undertaking courses that add value to their academic journey. Through OSS, students also have the opportunity to interact and engage with both local and international students, fostering cross-cultural connections and global perspectives.
Summer Exchange at Ewha Womans University (Korea)
Always wanting to learn more about the Korean culture, I embarked on a month-long summer school exchange at Ewha Womans University, where I took up Korean Ceramics and Korean Painting - courses that are not available at SUSS. Although these modules are unrelated to my degree, I pursued them out of interest, viewing them as unique opportunities to acquire new knowledge and skills, thereby enriching my learning experience.

Global Perspective
In my Korean Painting and Ceramics classes, I had the opportunity to interact with local and international peers from countries such as America, Taiwan and Saudi Arabia. This diverse environment gave me the opportunity to socialise with individuals of varied social cultural backgrounds, gaining insights into their interests and lifestyles - an experience not commonly encountered in Singapore as we have similar backgrounds. Most of my classmates are pursuing art-related degrees at their home universities, and I felt privileged to witness and appreciate their talent through their painting and ceramic works, admiring both their creativity and effort. Despite our differences in background, race, religion, gender orientation, and learning ability, we communicated seamlessly and created an inclusive environment where everyone was supportive and constantly offering words of encouragement and appreciation for each other's artwork.
Curiosity
The opportunity to study in Korea ignited my desire and confidence to seek new experiences and knowledge. Before embarking on the exchange trip, I researched Korea's culture and societal norms to better understand and integrate into the society. During my time there, I maintained a curious mindset, continuously learning about the country and its culture through observations and interactions with the locals, allowing me to gain deeper insights into Korea's way of life.
