About
St. Cassiodorus Scholé Community is a small group of families committed to three basic tenets.
The learning that our students, grades 6-8 will do together will be:
1. Christian: The community is committed to providing a Christian education and can affirm and subscribe to the Nicene Creed which serves as our Statement of Faith.
2. Classical: The community is committed to teaching a classical core curriculum.
3. Restful: The community endeavors to teach from a restful pedagogy of teaching and learning embodied in the word scholé.
Group Founders
Audra Natalia Wooten
Mrs. Wooten is a mother of four, an Orthodox Christian, the wife of a priest. After graduating with a BA in Secondary English Education in 2002 and a MLS in Library Science in 2007, spending some years teaching in public schools in between, she has been working out and growing her understanding of classical education since starting to homeschool her oldest child in 2009. In 2018, she was encouraged by Dr. Christopher Perrin of Classical Academic Press / Scholé to look more closely at Charlotte Mason's philosophy. This was advice that she followed and it has brought a great deal of depth and meaning to her life.
In addition to her work with St. Cassiodorus, Mrs. Wooten also teaches online classes (English Language arts and Latin) with St. Athanasius Academy and works as a park conservancy educator at Phil Hardberger Park.
Missy Watts
Mrs. Watts is mother to four children and married to a librarian. After graduating from Trinity University she has spent the last 25 years working in San Antonio in a variety of settings from non-profit to boarding school to homeschool co-op to charter classrooms. Formally, she studied history, but has always read educational philosophy for fun. She found Charlotte Mason and Classical education before she was married and has tried to incorporate it into her teaching and family life. She enjoys developing classroom communities that encourage students to form relationships with each other, the subjects we are learning and ultimately with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

FAQ's
Q: Do I have to teach or volunteer as a parent?
A: Volunteering is not required, but you can get a discount on tuition if you are able to help.
Q: Are my younger children able to stay during community days?
A: At this time, our community days are hosted in a home. Generally, only younger siblings who can remain quiet could stay inside the house. We hope that an elementary class can be offered soon.
