Passion for engineering

The career I have been interested in for the longest time is Bio- Engineering. I decided this career because of my fascination with medical based prosthetics and aiding devices. A year ago, my mother introduced me to a student she had taught who had invented a cup for people with Alzheimer's or any other medical restrictions that cause them to have an unsteady hand. This made life easier for them, and helped them live a safer life. This was inspiring, and it led me to think of how many things I could invent to help people in situations like this. Though I still have my whole life ahead of me and many decisions to make when it comes to my future I know no matter what I choose it will involve helping those in need.

I chose to take an engineering class to help me take the next step towards achieving my goal. This class will give me the opportunities, resources and support to make my next creations and inventions. Through this class, I have participated in Science fair, and won second place at regionals, then I went to Skills USA and competed at the nationals level placing top 10 in the nation. I am also taking a chemistry and AP Biology course to help me figure out chemical reactions that I can use on my behalf to make a useful resource. This class also teaches me all the elements that will help me make a sturdy prototype and soon to be finished product. I am in AP math and ELA as just one of my many resources that will help me in the future.

What do I do Outside of Engineering?

I played JV and Varsity volleyball for 3 years of my highschool expeience, this taught me love for the game and team work. I also have played tennis for 4 years varsity for Great Mills as well, I play girls doubles number 1. Playing doubles has grown the bound between me and my partner significantly and show n me the true connection between two team mates. I learn rather fast to keep a level head in tough situations, as well as learning how to comfort others in those same situations. I am also apart of NJROTC, a leader ship program at GMHS were I build on my skills like, taking charge of large groups of people or simply having the confidence to walk into a crowed room with my head high. I have had many experiences in the work industry from a young age, this was to help gain an ability to hold an income while attending classes. I have worked 3 seprate jobs related to handling food and custumer management, making cakes for a small bussiness, harvesting crops from a family farm and handling selling these crops at a local farmers market. I now work part time at a local deli that I get to enjoy making all sorts of different foods and work on my customer service skills.
