PA Junior Academy of Science (PJAS)
2015-Present
An important program for my science development was PJAS. Once I entered high school, I got involved in helping middle school students develop scientific questions and problems and practicing presentation skills for their projects for the yearly competitions. Since graduating college, I have expanded to also help high school students, espeically those wishing to develop and compete with physics projects. Additionally, for the 2020 competition season, I was in Pittsburgh and participated as a program judge.
Mentorship
2024-Present
Once I completed my first year in the Fisk-Vanderbilt Master's-to-Ph.D. bridge program, I decided to volunteer to serve as a mentor to an incoming student. As a mentor, I provide support to help transition to graduate school.
2022-2023
My last year in my undergraduate degree, I joined Polaris as a mentor. As a mentor, I mentored an undergraduate student in the program. We went to weekly program classes together that explored physics and astrophysics topics and . My mentee and I had additional regular monthly to bi-weekly mentoring meetings. I also developed an individual semester-long astronomy research project for my mentee. I provided advice, necessary training, and support throughout project, which culminated in a class-wide poster presentation.
Local Outreach
Spring 2025
Star Wars Waylay Play Day at Nashville Science Center
At this event, I intereacted directly with the public to answer questions and present on how Star Wars relates to astrophysics. This presentation had an emphasis on planets from the Star Wars universe and their real-life exoplanet companions.
