Current Approaches to Spanish and Portuguese Second Language Phonology 2026

The tenth biennial conference on Current Approaches to Spanish and Portuguese Second Language Phonology (CASPSLaP) will be held at Brigham Young University on February 27–28, 2026. CASPSLaP brings together leading experts in the field of second language acquisition (SLA) of Spanish and Portuguese pronunciation. The conference will highlight the themes of acquisition of dialectal variation and fine-grained phonetic traits, heritage language phonology, and social variation in second language phonological acquisition.
CASPSLaP 2026 will be held on the campus of Brigham Young University. Sessions will be held on the first floor and in the basement of the Joseph F. Smith Building (JFSB), home to the College of Humanities and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
