BIO
I am an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Economics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am also a Nonresident Fellow in Economic Studies. I was previously appointed as an inaugural David M. Rubenstein Fellow at Brookings from 2018 - 2020 and a scholar affiliate of the Future of Middle Class Initiative.
My research focus lies at the intersection of the fields of urban, public, and labor economics, focusing primarily on urban sorting and neighborhood change dynamics; neighborhood amenities; spatial and intergenerational aspects of inequality; technology and local labor market dynamics; and education policy.
