Research

My research flows along three trajectories. The first branch considers questions at the intersection of perception and psychology, such as: What sorts of properties do we visually experience? How does learning affect what we visually experience?

The second branch grows out of the first, and considers the interrelation of technology and perception. For example, I am writing about what sorts of properties we visually experience in virtual reality and how augmented reality can augment perception.

The third branch also grows out of the first and considers the question of how social biases may influence perception. On this front, I'm developing an account of sexist perception.
