Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 10, 2026

Introduction

CaseCraft – AI Test Case Generator ("CaseCraft", "we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps software testers and developers generate structured test cases using AI. This Privacy Policy explains what data we access, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

Data We Access

CaseCraft may access the following data solely to provide its core functionality:

1. User-provided input Text you type into the extension (user stories, system behavior descriptions, or context notes) is sent to the Groq API to generate test cases. This data is transmitted directly from your browser to Groq's servers using your own API key.

2. Page content (Page Scan feature) When you click "Scan This Page", the extension reads the interactive elements on the currently active browser tab (buttons, forms, input fields, links, and dropdowns) to generate relevant test cases. This scan happens entirely on your device. Only a structured summary of element labels and types is sent to Groq — no raw HTML, no personal data, and no page content from other tabs.

3. Screenshots (UI Screenshot feature) If you upload a screenshot, the image is sent to the Groq API for analysis. The image is not stored by CaseCraft on any server. It is transmitted directly to Groq using your own API key.

4. API key and settings Your Groq API key, preferred settings (format, language, project name), and generation history are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage. This data never leaves your device except as part of authenticated requests to Groq.

Data We Do NOT Collect

CaseCraft does not:

Third-Party Service: Groq

CaseCraft uses the Groq API to generate test cases. When you generate test cases, your input (text or image) is sent to Groq's servers. Groq's use of this data is governed by their own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, available at groq.com. We encourage you to review Groq's policies. CaseCraft is not affiliated with Groq.

Data Storage

All user data (API key, settings, generation history) is stored locally on your device using the Chrome Extension Storage API (chrome.storage.local). This data is never synced to external servers by CaseCraft and remains entirely under your control. You can delete it at any time by removing the extension from Chrome.

Permissions Justification

CaseCraft requests the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab -To open the side panel on the currently active tab

storage-To save your API key, settings, and history locally on your device

sidePanel-To display the extension UI as a Chrome side panel

Host permission: api.groq.com- To send your input to Groq and receive generated test cases

The extension also uses a content script that runs on all pages. This script is inactive until you explicitly click "Scan This Page" — it does not read, collect, or transmit any page data automatically.

Children's Privacy

CaseCraft is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
