CASA Fall Play/Film Project, 2020-21 school year. We adapted a public domain script of ALICE in WONDERLAND and originally planned to film the piece scene by scene on site in our Theatre Studio classroom, a plan designed with pandemic safety in mind. Right before we were scheduled to begin filming, the school went fully virtual due to rising COVID numbers in our local area. The cast changed gears and instead recorded the piece on Zoom. Mr. Campbell (project director) & Mr. Corman (film manager) then edited the scenes from the Zoom footage, with an effort made to preserve as much as possible the aesthetic choices and concepts the scene directors had established in rehearsal (which includes a different actor portraying the title character of ALICE in every scene). While the pandemic forced us to change our plans, we are still proud of our cast and crew for their perseverance in seeing the project through, and the experimental creativity of the overall work seems to us most suitable for this wonderfully bizarre classic tale.
