Carsten Eckel

Welcome to my Homepage

As a professor of Economics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich) I explore the consequences of globalization for workers, firms and governments. My research and teaching focuses on issues at the intersection of international economics, industrial organization, labor economics and public finance. In our research community I hold network affiliations with CEPR and CESifo, serve on the scientific committee of the European Trade Study Group (ETSG) and co-organize the annual Göttingen Workshop "International Economics".

My academic journey began at the University of Passau where I received my doctorate in 2000. After postdoctoral positions at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) in Bergen and the University of Göttingen I was appointed tenured full professor at the University of Bamberg in 2007 before joining LMU Munich in 2010. Here at LMU Munich, I undertook the role of Dean of the Faculty of Economics from 2015 until 2017 and currently serve as director of the Munich Graduate School of Economics (MGSE).

On the following websites you will find my detailed curriculum vitae, information on my past and current research and some of my professional activities. Thank you for your interest in my work.
