Browser Privacy

In this article, I have gathered a list of the privacy protections of four major private browsers: Brave, Firefox, Safari, and Vivaldi. For obvious reasons, Chrome has been excluded from this list. I will also talk about why each feature is useful, and give each browser a privacy score.

Brave A+

Privacy Features:

Tracker and Ad Blocking

Blocking trackers and ads keeps your data private and removes annoying ads. It also reduces load times because less stuff is loading.

Fingerprint Randomization (Disguising the browser)

Brave makes your browser look different to every site each time you visit, so trackers can't tell who you are.

Encryption

Forcing sites to use https keeps your data secure.

Blocking Third Party Scripts

This prevents your data from falling into the wrong hands.

Tor anonymizes and encrypts your web traffic to make you completely anonymous.

Firefox A-

Ad Blocking

Blocking ads keeps your data private and removes annoying ads.

Fingerprint Blocking

Blocking fingerprinting means sites can't link tracker data based on your browser.

Erases Cookies and Other Data

Cookies can track you and leak your data, so deleting them is a good idea anyway.

Tracker Blocking (Tracker pixels, scripts, and cryptominers)

Trackers are creepy. They steal your data and use it to target you or make money.

Get alerts if a saved password is compromised.

Block Cookies and Content in Incognito

Block potentially tracking content or unwanted cookies from loading. This keeps you private and secure.

Fingerprint Minimalization

All copies of Safari look identical so trackers can't tell yours apart.

Extension Control

Choose when extensions can access certain data and for how long.

Private Relay

Scrambles your IP and encrypts your data so that no one can see it except you and the site you're on.
