This website portfolio is a digital compilation of my - Carson Apollo’s (he/him/his) - visual and textual works created between 2022 and the present during my non-linear post-secondary and professional endeavours.
I reside, work, study, and create on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territory of the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), sǝmyámǝ (Semiahmoo), kʷikʷəƛ̓ əm (Kwikwetlem), and sc̓əwaθən məsteyəxʷ (Tsawwassen) First Nations.
I am in year three of five in completing my Bachelor or Journalism with a Minor in Geography as well as my Diploma of Fine Arts at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey BC, after transferring from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver BC and completing their Foundation Year Program.
I am working towards the dual M.L.I.S. (Masters of Library and Information Studies)/M.A.S. (Masters of Archival Studies) program at the University of British Columbia.
At the ECU Library + Archives I worked as a Research Assistant for the Roman Izbeski Industrial Design Collection, and as a Student Description Assistant for the University’s Film-Slide Archives.
At KPU I have worked as a Research Assistant for an Open Education Resource Grant textbook project where I co-authored Chapter 26 “Structural Relationship Violence” of Making Sense of a Global Pandemic: Relationship Violence & Working Together Towards a Violence Free Society - 2nd Edition.
I have chosen to place equal importance on work and educational experience during my undergraduate degree. As a contributor to The Runner Student Newspaper at KPU I am attempting to bridge my areas of study and work experience in my reporting.
I am currently a full-time student at KPU also working as a Pride Peer Leader in their Pride Centre, and as an on-call Community Services Assistant for the City of Surrey Archives.
I operate the Book Worm Home Library, the Barbie Manor Book Club, the Barbie Manor Art Studio, and more to come out of the Barbie Manor Residence in Surrey BC.
