Victorian Tea - Reservations required. Limit 20 guests.

Guest speaker is energetic Kurt Gibbons, tea expert and owner of the Ohio Tea Company in Canton. Kurt is all about the perfect tea. Taste a variety of teas while dining on the back patio.

Talk on Mark Twain - Bring Lawn Chairs

Mark Dawdziak of Cuyahoga Falls has authored several books on Mark Twain.  On this visit, he will discuss Twain’s ties to Ohio and will include excerpts from Twain’s own writing.  Historian Ken Burns once said, “ No one gets Mark Twain the way Mark does.”

McCook Bazaar - Bring Lawn Chairs

Rummage sale, bake sale, donation only.  Ice cream sundaes served from 11:00 - 1:00.  Blue Grass and Gospel Music at 11:00.

Walkabout Town

Join Carrollton historian, Carl Winters, at the McCook House front steps for a “Walkabout” town.  Carl is prepared to share information about buildings that “are” and “were” when attendees travel around a downtown block.  He has different routes planned for the next four years. 


Saturday, September 19th - 9:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

McCook History Day - Bring Lawn Chairs

9:30 -  We collectively plant a tree in honor of the nation’s 250th celebration. 

10:00 - John Barnett speaks on local Union soldier, Benjamin F. Potts.

10:30 - Eddie Murphy portrays Sojourner Truth.

11:30 - Dr. Haas speaks on The Revolutionary War with Q&A.

12:30 - An American 250 picnic lunch.  Drinks, dessert, and tables with seating will be provided. Reenactors visiting

Musical entertainment by Gary & Debbie Parker (Little Rock Band),  followed by the “Sweet Pickin’s” dulcimer band.


November 27th & 28th & December 4th & 5th - 1:00-8:00 p.m.

Unveiling of the Trees

See the trees throughout the house decorated by local groups and families. (22 trees last season!)  

Saturday, December 5th - Meet train enthusiast Austin Brodzinski, when he fields questions and operates his trains.  The working trains may be viewed on all four days.
