In Japan of the Tokugawa Ieyasu period, a young ninja named Genbu wantonly kills samurai and other government officials, leaving his clan to face the blame. The four ninja had to avoid each of the dragons as they recovered the four Golden Weapons. When the Weapons were stolen by Garmadon, they discovered that the dragons would gladly aid the ninja in their quest to get the weapons back. Afterward, each ninja kept the dragon matching their elemental properties as a pet, in addition to using them for transportation. This allowed the dragons to continue guarding the Weapons, as the four ninja wielded them in defense of Ninjago.

As Jay decided to visit his parents, all four dragons were molting and had to leave the ninja. The ninja had to go on the journey to Ed & Edna's Scrap N Junk on foot. During their time in the Spirit Coves, the dragons morphed into the Ultra Dragon, who appeared during the fight against the Great Devourer and nearly defeated the serpent.

When the Overlord possessed Garmadon's body to regain his true form, appearing as a humanoid dragon. As he power continued to increase as the Final Battle was about to begin, he mutated into a full dragon. At this time, the ninja were taken to Ninjago City by the Ultra Dragon to defeat him.

Firstbourne gave the stranded ninja dragons that correspond to their Elemental Powers. They rode them to get out of the Realm of Oni and Dragons and into Ninjago. Upon returning, the dragons save the ninja's allies from the Sons of Garmadon and fought against the Colossus.

Lloyd and Wyldfyre initiated a plan to liberate all the dragons that were held captive by Imperium, starting with the release of Heatwave from his cell.[5] However, their efforts were impeded by the Claws of Imperium and their Photacs, who subjected the dragons to a vicious attack.[6] In order to protect themselves, the dragons sought refuge in the Monastery of Imperium. Following their escape to Ninjago, most of dragons choose to remain with the ninja, relocating to the Monastery of Spinjitzu alongside them.[7]

The Dragon's Eye will improve your ninja's kicking, punching and strength skills. This item will also help you through the Path of The Ninja and help you level up, as well as earning belts. This item is said to be about dragons and so does the Golden Dragon and Rainbawl. This punching bag has the Chinese Dragon on it, so it probably represents something about Chinese/Japanese mythology or the Chinese New Year.

The first season of Ninjago: Dragons Rising is preceded by Season 15 of Ninjago. Arin is the mascot ninja, Empress Beatrix serves as the main antagonist, and the Claws of Imperium serve as the villainous faction of the season.

Ninjas appear in Mission 3, Japan, as minions of Yagyu Ranzou, being the main type of enemy the player must fight throughout the stage. Armed with ninja blades and shuriken stars, their fighting style is similar to Ranzou's, aside from their sliding jump kick. They come in two varieties, light and dark, with the darker ninjas having slightly stronger techniques.

The Black Dragon Ninjas are a faction of ninjas that engage in protection rackets, pillaging the outposts that do not pay them. They reside in a tower located in the Border Zone. As of the current update, they are hostile and will attack if a player approaches the Tower of Ninjas. They also have roaming squads in Stobe's Garden with a very low chance of spawning.

The ninja class appeared in the original 1st edition Oriental Adventures book.[1] In a review of the book, reviewer Ashley Shepherd commented: "The ninja is a class that everybody has had a go at designing. The 'official' version is the most satisfactory yet. It is not a whole character class, but a split class available only with one of the other new classes, and weaker than you might suppose, with fewer hit points, skill restrictions, and the possibility that the whole ninja clan might hunt you down if you fail in your appointed mission."[2] Jim Bambra also commented on the ninja: "To be a ninja, a character must qualify for one of the 'normal' classes as well as that of the ninja class. In keeping with their secret nature, ninja use their normal class as a cover identity. They may adventure with other characters, but they must be careful to keep their ninja identities secret, as loss of honor (and sudden death) may occur if the PC is unmasked."[3]

The concept of a ninja was presented in 3rd edition as a prestige class titled the Master Ninja and went on as further prestige classes like the Ninja Spy from the 3rd edition Oriental Adventures. The first ninja base class produced by Wizards of the Coast made its debut in the Complete Adventurer supplemental book.

The ninja class is a class that favors stealth over sheer combat prowess. It is intended to come into the fray unseen, attack furiously and then depart without a trace. Relatively weak in a straight up confrontation, the ninja excels when it takes its foes by surprise. In this way it shares a large similarity with the Rogue.

As previously mentioned, the class is mechanically similar to both the rogue and the monk from the core classes. The ninja gets 6 + INT skill points per level, which is almost as many the rogue gets, and the ninja's sudden strike ability is comparable to the rogue's sneak attack. The sudden strike may seem weaker since flanking an opponent is not sufficient, but the ninja can become invisible and use sudden strike from a distance, which the rogue usually cannot do, making the ninja focus more on ranged combat than close combat.

The ninja class focuses on stealth and mobility. At higher levels, the ninja becomes extremely adept at climbing, jumping and tumbling, and is proficient with poison use. Unlike the rogue, most of the ninja's abilities cannot function while encumbered or wearing any type of armour; instead, the ninja relies on wisdom and insight to pre-emptively dodge any oncoming attacks, a feature shared with the monk.

The ninja class has kept with some common stereotypes of the ninja, most of which are reliant on the supernatural powers provided by the class to attain. For instance, ninja are adept at using an obscure energy known as ki to manifest special powers of stealth and movement. As ninja gain experience in the class, the power of ki is used to fuel abilities that allow them to turn invisible or even jaunt into the Ethereal Plane.
