My Approach to Teaching and Learning Development
I apply principles of constructive alignment to ensure coherence between learning outcomes, instructional activities, and assessment strategies. My work is grounded in adult learning theory and evidence-informed teaching practices, with a focus on creating meaningful, learner-centered experiences.
Collaborative Partnership with Subject Experts
I work alongside faculty as a pedagogical partner, supporting them in translating their disciplinary expertise into effective teaching practices. I value building trust through consultation, co-creation, and responsiveness to diverse teaching contexts and goals.
Continuous Improvement Through Evaluation
I design evaluation plans using logic models and Kirkpatrick's framework to ensure learning programs meet their intended outcomes. Using mixed methods approaches, such as surveys, focus groups, and engagement data, I track metrics against program goals and translate findings into concrete improvements to curriculum and delivery.
Commitment to Inclusive Teaching and Indigenization
I approach my work with an understanding of the impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples in health and education contexts, and a commitment to identifying and challenging Indigenous-specific racism in institutional structures. I ground this commitment in ongoing learning, humility, relationship, and continuous growth by participating in activities hosted by Indigenous elders and enrolling in courses to increase my knowledge.
Program-Level Strategy & Change Management
I assess cross-program education needs and develop learning strategies and competency-based programs that align with organizational priorities. I draw on change management principles to support staff and educators through the adoption of new curricula, tools, and processes.
