How does Carpet Steam Cleaning Work?

By using the latest in carpet steam cleaning equipment, professional chemicals and products for carpet spot and stain removal treatments your carpets will be left with a Neutral PH. The Carpet Cleaning Process

Full 8 Step Carpet Clean

1. Pre-Inspection

On arrival, we will conduct a professional evaluation of your carpets. We will identify carpet type, fibre, and age, gaining information on stains, observing any problem areas and confirming what needs to be done and determine the best method of cleaning.

2. Pre-vacuuming

Vacuuming is an important step. An upright vacuum cleaner with motorised brush heads will be used to clean up all the dry soil, dirt, dust and hair.

3. Spot Stain Treatment

Basic stain removal included. Professional grade carpet stain removers will be carefully used where necessary. Note – DIY stain removers can often damage carpet further so it’s best to hire a professional.

4. Carpet Shampoo

A high quality carpet pre-spray shampoo and deodoriser will be applied. This step is important to digest protein soils / stains while dissolving oils and grease.

5. Agitation

This step is often skipped but an important process. We use a carpet rake to brush in the shampoo, this helps further break down soils / grease / oils. The shampoo is now bonded with all that dirt and ready for rinsing. Imagine using shampoo in your hair and not scrubbing it in or using hand soap and not scrubbing.

6. Hot Water Extraction Steam Cleaning

Using a professional hot water extraction system with high levels of heat and suction. This step completely rinses the carpet fibres to remove dirt and shampoo.

7. Neutralising & Deodorising

A carpet conditioning rinse is included to bring back the carpet to a neutral PH. This helps stop carpet re-soiling, reduce drying times and leave carpet soft to touch. Unfortunately many cleaners skip this step resulting in your carpets left in a high PH state, resulting in stiff carpet and in need of cleaning sooner.

8. Drying

We do additional drying passes with the carpet wand to ensure speedy dry times, usually touch dry within 3 hours. Carpets wet for too long will smell, attract more dirt, develop mould and even new stains can appear.
