September 2026: Our paper, "Infrastructure Shocks and Regional Resilience: Evidence from the 2012 Cologne–Leverkusen Bridge Closure (joint with Yuchen Huang and Jeffrey Cohen) has been accepted at the Journal of Regional Science
June 2026: My collaborators and I have won a Keynes Fund grant for a project that investigates how housing quality influences the economic impacts of climate change in the UK housing market
April 2026: My collaborators and I have won a British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grant for a project that investigates the relationship between adolescent housing conditions and later-life economic outcomes
November 2025: Our paper "Housing Crowding and Adolescent Educational Outcomes in China" has been awarded the second prize in the paper competition of the 2025 China Real Estate Academic Annual Conference and the 18th University Real Estate Scholars Symposium.
I am Associate Professor in Real Estate, Finance and Economics (T&S) in the Department of Land Economy and a Cambridge University Land Society/Cambridge Land Economy Advisory Board Fellow at the University of Cambridge, Director of Studies and Fellow in Land Economy at Homerton College, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Until September 2025, I was Deputy Director of our MPhil in Real Estate Finance.

My research interests include housing economics, household finance, and economic and urban history. In particular, I am interested in how people make their housing decisions, what factors play into these decisions and what the outcomes are to better understand what determines demand for housing and financial investment.

At the moment, I am intrigued by preferences, attitudes and beliefs, such as risk aversion or expectations, and how they lead to different outcomes particularly for women. In my household finance research, I use detailed household data representative of German households to analyse topics of political or societal interest. Recent work has examined topics including housing choices, financial market participation, climate-related housing risks, migration and housing outcomes, and long-run housing market development. I maintain active international research collaborations with colleagues in the UK, Europe, Asia, and the United States. My research has been supported by the British Academy and Keynes Fund.
