Welcome! I am a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Political Science at Northwestern University and will defend my dissertation in June 2026.
My research examines how institutions around voting and representation relate to political efficacy. I am motivated by concerns about how to mitigate apathy and encourage engagement with politics, especially for groups whose rights to vote and have equal representation are most challenged. As such, I focus on the intersection of electoral institutions, representation, and political efficacy with a mixed-methods approach.
I have teaching experience as an instructor of record and teaching assistant across a variety of American politics and methods courses. My research agenda on political efficacy extends to the classroom, where I focus on helping students develop the skills to be smart consumers of political information and the knowledge to feel they are informed and efficacious enough to participate in politics.
I am originally from Minnesota and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. Olaf College.
Outside of academia, I enjoy baking, bookbinding, walking by Lake Michigan, and knitting. I knit a Minnesota Frost PWHL jersey for the 2025 Walter Cup Finals and won "Fan of the Game"!
