Throughout the fellowship, I developed a new syllabus for Spanish 260. I began by reviewing my own previous syllabi for the course and seeking out syllabi for similar classes (see, for instance, this one and this collection). I also conducted research on critical pedagogies and the concept of "ungrading." Through these readings, I redesigned class assignments to prioritize storytelling, creativity, and local connections. I decided that students will be assessed through a mixture of self- and peer-evaluation, feedback-only assignments, and formative and summative assessments. Finally, I created the syllabus available here (the assessments section is highlighted in yellow). I plan to teach this newly designed class for the first time in the Fall Quarter of 2025.
