Dr. Ballew was born and raised in Knoxville, TN. He attended The University of Tennessee - Knoxville for his undergraduate degree, where he received a Bachelors of Arts in Music. He initially began his studies at UTK as a musician on a piano performance scholarship. He received his medical degree from the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, TN in 2014. He completed his family medicine residency training in 2017 at Southern Regional AHEC in Fayetteville, NC. He and his wife celebrated 11 years of marriage this year, and they have a beautiful and vibrant two-year-old daughter. Dr. Ballew is happy to begin his career with his great friend, Dr. Sciarra, and he is looking forward to serving the community of Laurinburg.
Dr. Sciarra is originally from the great state of New Jersey. He attended Penn State University - State College in Pennsylvania for his undergraduate degrees, where he completed a double major in both Biology and Mathematics. Dr. Sciarra initially considered pursuing a degree in Fine Arts before setting his dreams on becoming a physician. He received his medical degree from the The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine) in Stratford, NJ in 2014. He completed his family medicine residency training in 2017 at Southern Regional AHEC in Fayetteville, NC. He enjoys teaching residents and medical students as a new preceptor at Southern Regional AHEC.
