VICTORY : A 14" Andrew Barclay
Accurascale Model
VICTORY, an example of a standard industrial 0-4-0 saddle tank with 14" x 22" cylinders built by Andrew Barclay of Kilmarnock can be represented using a Barclay model produced by Hattons in the UK around 2021 which sold out quickly. Hattons closed down but the model was revived by Accurascale and a further batch has been released. There are a few minor discrepancies, notably the dumb buffers, but with a bit of effort, a reasonable model could be produced.
Models of the earlier locomotives might be possible from a craftsman style kit or may have to be hand built.
DAPOL have produced at least two versions of the Iron Company's hopper wagons. The base model is not strictly accurate but they make very convincing models (and good enough in my opinion). They were produced several years ago but they still appear on the used market quite often.
Coke wagons might be trickier to source. Roberts Davy were based in Sandside and hauled Coke to Furness from ovens in Crigglestone. A H Stabler of Darlington is a fair representation for a South Durham coke wagon. It may be worth checking wagon kits for North Eastern style coke wagons.
Two images from the Cumbrian Railways Association (Bill Shilcock collection) depicting iron ore hopper wagons built for the works.
211 is of identical design, but has a different livery.
In 2025 Accurascale produced a range of 00 gauge North Eastern Railway hoppers suitable for Coke traffic around 1911-1922
Coincidentally, they also produced a variant decorated for the wagons that remained in internal service at Workington Iron and Steel Company until the 1970s.
