Carmelita (Carmen)

I am a latina living in south Texas who promotes books through reviews on my Instagram, Tiktok, Fable and GoodReads, where I have a combined 8.8K viewership per week and growing as of Mar. 2026. However, I have been posting about books I have read since 2023, reading about 45+ a year. Most of my videos or photo posts receive about 700 to 1K views each and 30+ likes and growing. 

I am a trusted person in my community of Laredo, Texas, a city with a growing latino reader population. I am passionate about promoting authors who are POC and stories with diversity to help increase representation and inclusion. I am an educator by day (school counselor) and know the impact a story can have on igniting empathy and reflection. 

I love horror, thrillers, mysteries, fantasy, and fantasy. I adore authors such as Stephen King, Anne Rice, Matt Dinniman, George R. R. Martin, Isabel Allende, Sandra Cisneros, Silva Moreno-Garcia, Isabel Canas, and Zoraida Cordova. As for nonfiction, I deeply enjoy reading history and (auto)biographies.

I hold a Bachelor's of Arts & Science in Political Science and History and a Masters of Science in School Counseling and Psychology from Texas A&M International University. Both of my degrees help me understand depth and complexity in the human experience and have helped me hone my passion for writing.

Lastly, I am the proud aunt of Santiago and Joaquin, and dog mom to my quinceanera Sophie and grumpy 13-year-old Miles.
