My name is Carly Philpott, and I'm a senior and editor-in-chief of The Union Street Journal, the news publication at Cherry Creek High School. After four years of student reporting, I've found my niche in political, environmental, and social justice reporting, where I've covered stories at the school, local, and national level. I also love to evaluate the arts from a journalistic perspective, with articles about movies, TV, books, and local theater. I was honored with the Colorado Student Media Association Reporter of the Year award in May 2021 and have won seven individual awards at the national level, one from the National Scholastic Press Association and six from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
Next year, I'll be at Bates College, broadening my experience in the subjects I report on by dual-majoring in Environmental and American Studies, as well as hopefully working for the newspaper there, The Bates Student.
