The Way of Sorrows

oil on panel, gold leaf, Avonite

“The Way of Sorrows” was one of the paintings originally enclosed within the 1996 structure, “The New American.”  It describes two men who are approaching the “Place of Skulls,” where Christ was crucified.  Their fingers softly touch.  Their symbolic crosses can be seen in the distance.  This painting was also featured with a group of other works in the 2001 "Kaaba" installation.

Pictures of "Kaaba" and "The New American" appear below, and viewers can click on them to read more about them and to enlarge them in the Exhibits/Installations section.
