Portrait of Vivian Day
4” x 3 ½ ”
1990-1
colored pencil, rhinestones, leather, gold leaf, brass, velvet, wood case
A portrait gifted to Ms. Vivian Day to celebrate her marriage to John Stroh, III, this drawing was influenced by my study of the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám and exploration of Persian manuscript painting. In 1993, it became part of the group of paintings and drawings enclosed inside the installation, "Sanctuary."
A picture of "Sanctuary" appears below, and viewers can click on it to enlarge it and to read more about it in the Exhibits/Installations section.
