Pater Noster

3 ½” x 4”

1996

oil on panel, brass, velvet, Avonite

A mysterious stranger approaches an angry young man along a shoreline and directs his face toward the rising sun.  A lesion faintly appears on the stranger's neck, alluding to AIDS.  The sun melts away a swastika on the young man's forehead—only a final trace appearing in the shadow of his upraised hand—and the youth is miraculously redeemed.  This painting was first shown inside “The New American” in 1996.
