Assemblage I: Correspondence

1′ x 2′ x 4”, vitrine height: 32”

2014-2015

9 drawings, 1 collage, polymer, ink, wood, foil, holographic paper, acetate, glass, rhinestones, velvet

This was the first of 3 assemblages shown inside a vitrine in my Flint Institute of Arts exhibit, “Labyrinth: The Circuitous Life of a Miniaturist.”  Similar to a cabinet of curiosities, none of these cards and dimensional constructions, dating from the middle to late 1980s, had ever been publicly displayed until this exhibition.  Referencing the work of Joseph Cornell, this organized grouping of objects gave museum visitors a glimpse into my private world of card-exchanging and gift-giving with other artists.
