My donation to the ArtWorks Detroit annual auction in 2021, I was imagining how truly lost we were in our battle to solve the COVID-19 pandemic.  I often felt as if we were sheep, lost in a blizzard, trying to find our way home.  The poem I wrote was reflective of a meditative prayer for our country and the world.  Here, a man floats through space in a state of confusion and disbelief.  “COVID, fallen Angel of Death, / Had made of us His carrion. / He inhaled the whole of Earth’s breath / To leave us in oblivion. // Omicron, His viral Daughter, / Exhaled cycles of upheaval. / May we, in anointed water, / Be delivered from Their evil. // Amen"
